A: Nice amber color with a fluffy looking tan head

S: Clove spice some esters with some orange peel and lemon zest a complex and great smelling nose

T: yeasty spice with caramel fresh taste as well. some more complex notes in there as well.

M: light mouth high carbonation

D: high drinkability here

Overall: this really did remind me of a Christmas beer with the spice notes and it being a darker beer. Really a cool beer I liked it and the flip tops are always killer for home brew!

Nov. 2013: On tap at Amundsen, Oslo. ABV was 6.9%. Ruby red colour, moderate off-white head. Nice aroma and flavour of Christmas spices, malts and caramel. Not too sweet, pleasant. Would buy again.

one of a kind brew here, extremely odd. I never thought of a funky/sour beer as a holiday thing, but this changed my mind. hazy amber color with a massive off white head. the nose is so funky, its acidic and not really what I expected at all. underneath the crazy yeast complex is gingerbread and mulling spice, some dark fruit, and what smells like black pepper. its downright strange, muddled and confusing to me, and the taste clears nothing up at all. equally puzzling as the nose, is the lactic funk overtaking the spices. this is a 2011 vintage, and I have to imagine is broken down a bit in the bottle over time. ginger and raisins in the finish, sweet and funky at the same time, so weird. not sure if I like it or not. great feel though, tons of bubbles and only a medium body, it really tickles the tongue and makes me contemplate this even more. so interesting. a beer for the adventurous palate, that's for sure. I don't know what it tastes like fresh, but with some age the yeast does insane things to this. I hope more folks review it this season so we can compare notes. a total oddity.

LOOK: Pours an amber brown color. Large off white head forms leaving plenty of lace.

SMELL: Belgian yeast, toffee, hops, and raisin bread are all prominent in the nose. Smells truly rustic and enticing.

TASTE/FEEL: Spicy/fruity yeast notes with some herbal, fairly bitter hops that are very present in the taste. Mild dry spice note which could be attributed to the yeast and possibly a small amount of coriander or allspice. Toffee, caramels, firm malt body overall. Finishes bitter and somewhat dry for a true medium bodied ale. In the same vane as a Belgian strong dark ale, but lighter, hoppier and easier to drink quickly.

OVERALL: A fine Belgian table beer with a holiday theme. Light for the amount of flavor found within the beer. Paired perfectly with date and raisin crackers topped with fig chutney and blue cheese.

Pours a two finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Slightly hazy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is earthy and flavor is almost tart pear and earthy. $11.40 for a 750ml bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

a rather toasty late autumn clear brew. that has a touch of pilsner notes. this is a beer about the delicate expanding of the grain. mild sweets... nice toastiness... not particularly gritty and fruit accent from the interaction of abv and esters. pour is copper with an off white head. nose of orange peel and toasted malt. a bit of earthy tannins, that come through in the palate as hints of tobacco. subtle hop and boozy with sesame notes. rather dry mineral but all around a harvest food accompaniment.

S: The smell is somewhat earthy and has aromas of apple cider, caramel and spices.
T: There's a slight amount of sweetness in the taste, which is similar to the smell.
A very slight amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink.
