after taking the 3:00 friday tour at the production brewery in nearby milton, we went immediately to the original rehoboth brewpub to do battle with the randall. the tour is worth taking-you get a few free samples and the opportunity to buy some beers which may not be otherwise available. we picked up some palo santo and world wide stout. the original pub has a lot of character-a homey, just right-sized building in quaint rehoboth beach. decor is antique shop meets brewpub. two levels and a small area for a band. the band that played that night, "special ed and the short bus" (love that name, as i was B.D. in school) was quite good, although not my style of music-bluegrass/country type sounds played by some wacky subculture of guys that look like they just came from a civil war re-enactment. food was decent, the crab dip appetizer in particular was great. selection of beers is all dfh, the mainstays and some seasonals are available along with a couple cellared beers. we had the opportunity to go at it with the aforementioned randall which is used on mondays and fridays. the not-available elsewhere theobroma was quite interesting. we also got to try 105's and midas touch, but our session beer was randallized 90 minute, which left all of us staggering back to our dingy hotel after 8 hrs of battle. our party suffered a 50% casualty rate from the randall, with two vomiting well into the following day. our server was passionate and knowledgable about dfh beers. quite busy as well, even at this time of year. overall a great time and a must visit if you are in rehoboth beach.
