December 2011: 330 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%, EBC 31.7, EBU 29.2. Stamwortgehalte 16 degrees. Cloudy brown colour, moderate to low off.white head. Strong aroma of smoked meat, with some faint sweetish malty notes in the background. The flavour has strong notes of smoke, with just the right maltiness and decent hops. Bitter finish. I am not a big fan of smoked beers, but this one was quite drinkable.

From notes 1/5/13: Pours a murky dark amber/light brown with lots of bubbles both arising and sticking to the sides of the glass from the excellent carbonation (yes the glass was clean), producing 1.5 fingers of beige, variously bubbled, moderately lasting head that leaves a wash of blotchy lace. The brew clears somewhat as it warms making visible an abundant grayish sediment in the bottom of the glass with some still suspended in the beer. Aroma is caramel and smoky malts with notes of meat and salt/brine, a chocolate hint and a distant sourness in the background. Taste is slightly more thin on the meat and smoke than Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Marzen but is more peppery and has a sweeter malt character with the caramel and slight chocolate notes found in the nose being present. Aftertaste is bitter, astringent and faintly sour. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely carbonated making the sip lively on the tongue.

Poured from an 11.2 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer is a murky brown color with an off-white head. The aroma and flavor gas a nice smoky texture. A really good beer.

Pours a hazy light brown color with a very nice cream colored head with decent retention.
Aroma is part roasted malts and part like a sort of smoked cheese - I like it.
The taste starts bittery, quite bittery really and is complemented by some roastiness and coffee feel.
Quite nice, I must say.
