12 oz. bottle with an unreadable date. Consumed on Red Wednesday, 2013.
A- Translucent, dark orange-ish, amber pour with a big cream colored head that stays strong for several minutes, and eventually leaves a thin film in its wake. Had a strange vortex of haze that ended up dispersing throughout the glass, and obscuring any view of carbonation.
S- Sweet, spicy malts and rye, and some citrus, piney hops. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but the spicy rye was a nice touch.
T- The spicy rye is thankfully evident, and takes a front row seat in the malt bill. The citrus and piney hops round third nicely, and bring it home with a bitter finish that lasts well into the aftertaste. As it warmed, I picked out a distinct flavor of clementine zest.
M- Mid to full body. A little bit slick. Low carbonation. Nothing special, but not negative.
O- A solid showing from a brewery I'm not that fond of. Lacks the depth and complexity of some of the really great IPAs I've had the good fortune to imbibe. An enjoyable beer, and one that I might pick up in the future at the right price.
