Another beer courtesy of the legendary woodychandler. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1 inch head. Some floaties are present. Smell is of lemons, hops. Taste is mild hops, a very light bitterness, malts are present, zing of lemons and oranges as well. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall makes for a refreshing warm weather beer.

Drank from a 12 fl. oz. bottle
04/01/14
Served in a tulip

Except for the large yeast particles floating throughout the liquid, the appearance was flawless. The cloudy, straw yellow body was topped by a billowing, fluffy, four-finger tall, bright white mass. A latticework of Brussels lacing coated the glass as the crown receded, lasting until the end of the session.

The aroma was spectacular. Uber spicy and intense, but remarkably smooth. Clove and coriander were the dominant spices. Fruity and quite sweet with lots of punchy citrus notes. Orange peel was rather prominent. Clean, bright and wheaty. Grassy hops were noticeable in the background. There was a powdery, dry and slightly phenolic Belgian yeastiness as well.

While the nose was much more like a witbier than an IPA, the opposite was true of the flavor profile. Earthy, bitter hop notes hit hard right off the bat. Dry and tart with lots of crisp wheatiness and citrus. Bitter grapefruit rind was most apparent. Moderate amount of pine and orange peel. Touch of lemon. Somewhat spicy. Clove was noticeable. There was a slightly herbal quality as well. The finish was hoppy, dry and super bitter, but the bitterness receded as the beer warmed.

Fairly ordinary mouthfeel. The liquid was medium bodied for the style contained a very fine, mellow effervescence. Slick, smooth and slightly creamy. This could have definitely benefitted from a bit more zippiness.

Otter Creek have really stepped up their game lately. This excellent summer quencher is both refreshing and complex.
