Pours a 1.5 finger light brown head with dark brown body that is opaque save for the reddish hue near the bottom edges of my pint glass - truly a beautiful stout! And the head retention is impressive, as well as some good lacing.
Smell is roasted and nutty. You can definitely also pick up the oats and a sweetness - yes it smells sweet and delicious before you even take the first taste.
Taste is pronounced malts that are sweet, but by no means too sweet. You also get some acidity, and a bit of sour if it swirl it around. A lot going on here.
Nice and full-bodied, not watery, and high carbonation. You can sip and enjoy this one as it warms and the flavor intensifies. The taste lingers, but does not smack your palate around, making you want more.
Very drinkable, but you have to be in the mood for a solid hearty stout. Tonight might just be one of those nights, and I think I'll have another.
