Vigorous pour yielded a big three-finger, tan head that lasted a long time. Deep brown/black.
Aroma is mild, clean and light. As expected smells like roasted grains, chicory, coffee. No real fruity or yeastiness.
If you're looking for a solid oatmeal stout, the taste here will not disappoint. Everything is on point for the style. A good amount of bitterness which is pronounced when the beer is cold, but fades into a great balance with the sweetness when it warms up a bit. Not sweet, but well-balanced. Probably a bit more bitterness than you'd get in some traditional oatmeal stouts, but certainly within the normal range. Dark roasted malt flavor, some chocolate lingers, some chicory/coffee flavor, a little iron.
Nice smooth mouthfeel you'd expect from an oatmeal stout. Good carbonation. Bitterness and bubbles stay on the tongue and palette for quite a while.
Overall I really like this beer. Totally on point for the style. Exactly what I'm looking for when I want a standard oatmeal stout (as opposed when I want a more extreme American stout). And it's organic too, which is great.
