Picked this up at my local wine and spirits - they offer single bottles for between $1.50-$3.00, a great way of trying new beers without making a a financial and fridge investment in a six pack. To my review!
I poured this into a room temperature pint glass. The color was a mild to medium dark orange and it had a very similar smell to most other Oktoberfests. However, when I took the first sip, I was immediately turned off to this beer. The taste was similar to Samuel Adams but tasted like a lite version. While SA Oktfest isn't exactly a heavy beer, it still has a deep enough taste to make it last. The beer was also somewhat tart, something I didn't expect from an OktFest. In all honesty, I dumped about half the beer and poured myself a SA. Was very disappointed. Looking forward to some better OktFests!

About a year and a half old.
Pours a slightly hazy golden brown with a huge 2 inch frothy pillow-like cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving very thick lacing.
There's a skunky character in the initial aroma. Becomes grainy and metallic, with subtle toasted caramel malt beneath. To avoid the aged character, I smelled the bottle. Fairly nutty, with slight brown sugar sweetness.
Flavor reveals substantial, slightly over-toasted, bready malt character, but it's dominated by sherry-like notes of oxidation and a metallic finish. Nutty flavors emerge late, followed by dryness and a bit of soap.
Body is moderate, but fairly high carbonation lightens it a bit. There's a touch of astringency at the finish.
Probably past its prime, so my score ignores the off flavors. Not a bad beer, but nothing spectacular. Malt character lacked a bit.
