Nice bright orange malt color. Some visible carbonation but most importantly a thin layer of head is apparent and rimming the glass.
It smells very upfront with pale malts. It has that faint raisin/fruit smell from the malts, but then you can smell the pungent hops on the end and on the second smell.
It's bitter up front but then follows with a weird tin can taste. I'm not too fond of that. It may be the malts, but I'm not sure. The bitterness leads to a drying sensation and it actually ends up being somewhat refreshing.
Mouthfeel is crisp and bubbly, I like that a lot. It comes across as a bit watery, but I would be totally ok with this beer in the summertime.
Drinkability is ok. It would have been higher except for that weird tinny taste that isn't going away.

Notes: Born on 5/21/14 (consumed 07/22/14). Poured into a nonic pint
A: Cloudy apricot colored beer that sports a 2 finger white head. the head is pillowy and comprised mostly of smaller bubbles. The bottle has a very clear shoulder label with the bottled date.
S: Sweet smelling, with hints of apple and caramel. There are malty smells. Not getting any floral or strong hop scents.
T: A hint of bitter but well balanced with a sweetness from the malts. There is a mild caramel characteristic along with some pine needles.
M: Really nice mouthfeel. Smooth and coating feeling. No strong bitter or dry after taste.
O: This is a great East Coast Style IPA. I would put the ABV estimate at 6.2% or lower. There is a slight alcohol presense - but nothing distracting. The sweetness balanced with the mild bitter is really nice. The body is fantastic along with the mouthfeel. This is a really enjoyable IPA. I would definitely drink more or share them. This is a beer that an early IPA padawan might like - as they develope their palate. It is a good intro to the style - without being a hop bomb.
