The beer was black in the glass with ruby coloring when held up to the light. I tried and tried, but the aroma was hard to come by. After the beer warmed there was a slight roasted/chocolate aroma, not much more. The body was medium light and the flavor chocolate, roasted, and coffee, but also slightly sour. The beer finished dry with a light chocolate flavor that lasts and lasts.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped with 3414-091212. Sampled on January 20, 2014 and I have to think it is well past its expiration date.
The pour is dark brown with a short-lived tan colored head. Great color.
The aroma is of dark malts, smoke, butter, and earthy hops.
The body is in the medium range with a creamy texture.
The taste is much like the aroma with a decent dark malt forward character, mild sweetness, burnt barley, and a fairly mild hop finale. A pretty well balanced Porter that is easy to drink.
