The most balanced porter I've yet to try. It looks black with a small dark head, actually more like a stout than the porters I'm used to. The bitterness is accompanyed by a roasted undertone and present hop character. Very pleasing and aply named. This is my new favorite porter.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped with 3414-091212. Sampled on January 20, 2014 and I have to think it is well past its expiration date.
The pour is dark brown with a short-lived tan colored head. Great color.
The aroma is of dark malts, smoke, butter, and earthy hops.
The body is in the medium range with a creamy texture.
The taste is much like the aroma with a decent dark malt forward character, mild sweetness, burnt barley, and a fairly mild hop finale. A pretty well balanced Porter that is easy to drink.
