This brew pours black with a mocha colored head which lasts a few minuets. Lacing stays on the glass throught.

The smell is of sweet and burnt malts, toasted grains and bitter hops.

The taste starts with both sweet and roasted malts. There is a strong coffee taste followed by toasted grains. More coco bean taste then light floral hops at the end.

The mouthfeel is a bit creamy and biscut like; just a little chewy.

Overall a good porter. Well balanced with different types of malts, hops and strong coffee. Otter Creek puts out another good brew.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Canned 10/17/22. @jonphisher sent it to me because he's a nice guy.

Pours a dark coffee brown with a small head, settles to a thick uneven ring and a light dusting across the surface. Smell is roasted nuts and chocolate. A whiff of bready yeast.

Taste is roasty bitterness with a lot of nutty sweetness and a bit more coffee, nothing overwhelming, nicely balanced nice flavors.

Mouthfeel is on the thin side, almost watery. Overall, very pleasing beer right now.

Very dark brown in color, backlighting yields amazing clarity, head is light brown; nice solid cold remains as it’s drank down.

Nose is chalky and cocoa like with some very nice roasted bitterness.

Taste is a mix of both roasted malts and cocoa powder like chocolate, finish has a nice touch of bitter coffee and hop presence.

Light in body, but far from watery it has a fullness to it, it is soft on the palate and very smooth; it finishes clean with a very too the point medium bitterness that lingers.

Welcome back OC Stovepipe Porter!
16 ounce can packaged 11/17/22.

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch tan head over a black body with lacing.

Nose of very roasty malts, very faint smoke, slight bitter chocolate, and wet leaves.

Taste mirrors nose closely with a bitter finish of hops, bitter chocolate, and unsweetened chocolate.

Very nice feel, and overall I'm glad they brought this one back after at least 6 years!!

Cheers!!!

TASTE: Hickory, Chocolate. A bit of unpleasantness, almost vinegar-like, but decent flavor overall.

First experienced on tap at Mad Mountain Tavern, this porter convinced me, in a good way, that there was soot in the recipe. One of my all-time favorite porters, it's with great sadness that I learn it is no longer being produced. For that matter, MMT is closed as well. So goes the impermanence of life I suppose.
