Pours a coppery-orange with a negligible white head that disappears immediately, leaving a shimmery white ring. No lacing, however.

Smell is faint. I sniff deeply to find a sweet malty backbone, but predominantly the smell--faint as it is--is of grapefruity or piney hops.

Tastes of hops--dry, citrus, oil and florally hops. But then a metallic twang assaults the back of the mouth as you finish the sip. It tastes to me like I'm chewing on a shiny penny, though maybe it's just the color of the beer giving me that association. I love hops, but this metallic bitterness I could do without.

Mouthfeel is tangy and slightly watery, though well-carbonated.

Drinkable? I suppose this would pair well with certain foods, mainly spicier fare. But on its own that metallic aftertaste is just a bit too unpleasant. On the other hand, it is relatively light in alcohol and body, so in the right setting maybe a few of these would go down OK.

Final notes: a friend brought over a six-pack of this recently. I hadn't had it in years, mainly because my first experience with it at a beer festival in the mid-90s was not so positive. I remember thinking then that it had a metallic flavor to it, and in the intervening 10-12 years, my taste buds still feel the same. I don't want to sound too down on it, but there are better American Pale Ales out there.

Golden pour with medium sized head. Strong carbonation. Strong pine and pretty one dimensional pale ale, without a lot of malt backbone to give it much body. One of my first craft beers back in college, and overall enjoyed this as a cheap craft. Mediocre at best, but worth trying.

A - orangish amber with a thin lacing of white head that fades quickly

S -very malty and bready with some faint citrus notes

T - huge bready malt with some apple-like sweetness; very faint citrusy notes from the hops

M - medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated

This is a malt bomb. It's one-dimensional and ultimately boring. It's drinkable and unoffensive, but I wouldn't have this again.
