Bottle marked 08 - or is it 03? /18/08 lot #2347.
Pours a mildly hazed light amber color with a very thin and quickly vanishing off-white head.
Scent is vaguely earthy, grassy and malty with notes of toast and fruit.
Taste is toasty and grainy with a bit of a metallic note at first. There's a muted fruitiness. A pleasing bitterness finishes it out. Seems to grow on me. As I continue to sip, both the fruity and the toasted qualities seem to come into focus.
Mouth is a well carbonated medium.
Drinkability is pretty good.
Not a bad beer. Interesting how it grew on me as I continued to sip. Alts have never been my favorite style of beer but this was pleasant to drink.
