This beer pours a very light gold color with a standing white head. The aroma is grainy with a light hoppiness. The beer tastes lager like with some lemon zest, but not that much. It's a clean beer that refreshes, but lacks any real wheat characteristics. I don't taste much wheat here at all. I'm really growing quite tired of so called "wheat ales" that have none of the qualities associated. It's like just adding a little wheat malt gives you the right to call an otherwise pilsener beer a wheat ale. This one is low bodied like much of the rest and is also very drinkable. Otter Creek does not impress me at all. Their beers are average at best. (650 characters)

Poured a very pale yellow with almost non existent thin white head, very mild buttery aroma with maybe a hint of toasted grain but very weak.Taste is grainy and quite bland very watery mouthfeel nothing to like about this beer.I have not had a real bad beer in quite awhile but this makes the cut as a bad beer for me,watery and bland ehh. (338 characters)

12oz bottle. Pours a very watery looking pale golden colored beer with massive carbonation bottles that rise to create a pure white thinned-out foam head with some stick and moderate retention. Touch of straw-y haze.

Light fruitness, soft floral note. Wheaty in the nose. Unpleasant.

Quite light on the palate, very thin and watery with just a hint of malt backbone. Loads of husky tannins in the mouth, quick scrubbing and course feel followed by a weak hop zest. Somewhat spritzy carbonation feel. Soft bubble-gum lays with hints of one-dimensional fruit flavors. Odd wheaty tannin clings to the palate in the finish.

Label says "often served with a lemon" ... you'll need one just to take the tannic edge off. Another lackluster and boring Summer seasonal. (768 characters)

12 oz twist off brown bottle with a bottled on date of 4/27/05 ... a little early, this beer won't be fresh by the time summer is over. Thankfully I am drinking it now.

Pale golden hue with a good clarity, thin white lace does little to stick to the glass.

Bread crust aroma, mild lemon rind and pale malt husk in the nose.

Crisp and a bit too wet, odd graininess throughout. Mildly astringent with a lining of diacetyl. The herbal hop character does not meld well and only seems to intensify the graininess / astringent character. Finishes with a slickness on the palate.

They state that this beer is often served with a slice of lemon ... I would highly suggest it to mask the astringency or just simply pick a different summer brew. (747 characters)

This beer was poured from the bottle into a glass. It was a clear golden color with a small whitish head that didn't linger. The taste was crisp and refreshing, the hallmark of a summer beer. It smelled citrusy and slightly floral. The taste was similarly citrusy, crisp, and a little tart, somewhat hoppy. It was a smooth beer, easy to drink and a nice, light, refreshing summer beverage. I will buy this beer again. (417 characters)

poured into a nonic glass from a 12oz long neck brown bottle with a twist-off cap.

Slighly hazy, light amber with a golden hue. 2" creamy white head with fair retention leave a thick coating. Almost no visable carbination just a stagger bubble now and them.

Carmalized malt aroma, slightly metallic, some dried straw with a very light citrus aroma.

Light carmell taste, sugary,a delicate citrus bitterness with a slight grassy edge. Nice balance seems to have a watered down feel to it.

Light mouthfeel, smooth, easy drinking. Would be a bit more drinkable if not for the bland taste, nothing offensive just seems to be a bit lacking. (639 characters)

12oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

Pours a very clear and light yellow with a small white head with a lot of Lacing. Nose is not very good, it's a bit like pbr with honey.

Taste is very light and crisp and although the nose is meh this is really refreshing. Carbonation is good and makes it easy drinking, this isn't a fancy beer but it's a good summer brew. (366 characters)

Pretty similar to American macros - light colored, light bodied, little to no head; of course, this tastes fresher and hasn't been killed by pasteurization. Wheat adds a zing that slakes thirst and the trademark Otter Creek hops are here and very welcome, elevating the beer beyond boring status: hints of grapefruit, good stringy quality in what is otherwise a watery beer. Good for cooling down on a hot day, but not much else. (429 characters)

Appears a pale golden hue with a bright white head that dwindles at it's own pace not bad looking at all. Aroma contains a touch of citrus and faint wheat with an offbeat metallic character slightly sweet toasty malts in the background but a bit subdued. Taste consists of a slurry of tart citrus tones with bitter herbal highlights that combine to form a somewhat off tone that doesn't complement me in any way especially during the summer months. Mouthfeel consists of a light bodied summer beer with an evenly carbonated profile. Drinkability is at best mediocre not willing to consume this on a regular basis by any means completley uninteresting. (651 characters)

Otter Creek- 'otter summer ale

bottled on 7/06/05

Appearance- yellow and fizzy with a decent bubbly head.
Smell- faint hints of yeast, wheat, and hay.
Taste- light watery wheat with a stingy metal taste?!
Mouthfeel- watery with a slight metallic bitterness.

Overall- not a very good brew.Otter Creek usually doesn't disappoint. Just not a good summer brew. I think I got a bad batch (394 characters)

Golden yellow color, with a reasonable head and decent retention.
Not much aroma that I discovered. Mostly wheat in flavor, with a mild citrus undercurrent. It unfortunately leaves a strange off taste in the back of my mouth which bugs me a little bit. It's still fairly refreshing in spite of all the shortcomings, it's just not particularly special either. (359 characters)

This pours a clear yellow with a large foamy white head. This looks like a" big brewery" beer. The smell is really weak, I could make out some yeast, but little else. The taste has some sweet malt, lemon, grass, and some hop bitterness, but this is very watery. The m/f is light, too light, with a watery aftertaste that makes me think this is a light beer. I really can't see myself buying this again. There are alot of other summer beers better than this. (453 characters)

Enjoyed on tap at the Tap and Mallet. Neutral aroma, creamy and grainy and lacey. So-so, with a mild grassy hop, and a bit of lemongrass herbal taste.Fizzy carbonation, less than medium mouthfeel. For lawnmowing and BBQs, unoffensive. Below average wheat beer. (260 characters)

A - light golden yellow with a short lived white head

S - wheat, faint grassy

T - wheat, faint yeast, light flavor, very little hop character

M - light bodied, smooth, well carbonated

A very light, easy to drink, refreshing summer beer. It's not very unique but it is a decent beer if you like something light. I wouldn't turn it down if offered. (350 characters)

This slightly hazy yellow-gold summer ale maintains it's creamy bright-white head well and leaves some very nice walls of lace around the glass. The nose expresses dried citrus rind and a delicate maltiness. In the mouth it's crisp with a median carbonation and medium-light body. The flavor is grainy upfront; followed by some bright lemon notes across the middle; and then some grassy hops, a dry bitterness, and some chalky "rind-like" character (or is that coriander?). It finishes quite dry and lingers with a dull bitterness. It's an interesting and unique summer beer that would work perfectly well at a ballgame, back yard BBQ, or night on the porch swing. (664 characters)

I like Otter Creek Brews and like to try them. Being a fan of summer beers I was happy to try this one when I saw it. I am not upset I did, I am just not overly happy with it. Summer beers are supposed to be light and crisp, but to me there is not a lot of taste in this beer.

Its not a bad tasting beer, just kind of bland. You could do a lot worse in choosing a summer beer, but you could do a lot better. (409 characters)

Poured from 12 oz bottle (new 'modern' labelling) into a pint glass.

Pours light golden yellow with little, if any, foam. No lacing. Malty citrus smell. Mild citrus taste, wrapped in malt with crisp finish. Wheaty. Drinkable, unremarkable.

Late in the season for a summer brew, honstly just trying to get it out of my fridge. (327 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a pint glass, the liquid is light yellow and has good carbonation. The head is ok, 2 fingers of white foam that fades fast leaving little lace.

The smell is light and critus malt with mild hops.

The taste follows a bit of light malt and very mild hops giving a slight citrus taste.

The mouthfeel is less then medium body, and crisp carbonation.

The drinkability on a hot summer day is pretty good, the brew is easy drinking light and refreshing. MK (483 characters)
