I poured this beer and immediately caught a whiff of strong coffee. "Am I pouring beer, or am I pouring coffee!?!" was my initial reaction. Props.
Yep, about a half inch of light tan head, quickly dissipated. The color is just right for a porter, if a hint more of deep red than usual. Not opaque, but getting there.
It smells strongly of espresso beans. The scent wafts into the surrounding air and makes itself KNOWN. I tried really hard to see if I could smell anything else in this abyss of coffee. Maybe the slightest hint of malt backdrop. Otherwise, all Coffeee.
Oh my, it's like drinking liquid espresso beans. I'm honestly not entirely sure how this qualifies as a porter, as far as taste goes. Haha, more like carbonated, alcoholic coffee. Unique. It is what it is, and I appreciate that.
My one complaint is the mouthfeel which has nice carbonation, but as soon as you swallow, it's gone. Almost like a disappearing act. A tad strange.
Yep, if you like coffee, give this one a shot. Otherwise, stay far, far away. Good, but you have to be in the mood. Cheers.
