The Green Mountain landscape is dotted with breweries that have established Vermont as one of the premier beer destinations in the World. We pack a lot into our little state— abundant local foods, great music, natural beauty and amazing beer. Vermonters know the finest things in life are best enjoyed with good buds. Friends and brewers Sean Lawson and Mike Gerhart have teamed up to create a beer that features the best qualities of each brewery.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. No obvious freshness date but it was purchased about 5 weeks ago at Wine Warehouse (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Slightly hazy orange-amber with copious 2-3 finger, frothy and rocky off-white head with good retention and a nice crust of lacing around the top of the glass.

S: Very nice tropical fruit and grapefruit/orange citrus hops aromas, some catty and earthy herbal aromas as well, not much in the malt department, no yeast elements

T: Very lush flavor profile with passionfruit, pineapple tropical fruit flavors combined with more classic grapefruit and pine. No cattiness in the flavor and there is a light vegetative tanic note in the finish near the end. The malt component is unassuming with some lighter crystal malt but mainly just a basic baseline pale malt without much sweetness. There is no yeast presence. The bitterness is moderate and creeps up on you as the bottle nears completion. Alcohol is very well-hidden.

M: Also a very lush mouthfeel with medium body, light carbonation and a moderately dry finish despite the bolder feel on the palate initially.

O: A really good beer although I have to qualify that I tried the first one of these the first of second day after I bought the 4-pack, and the flavors were dominated by tangy herbaceous aromas and flavors that masked the excellent tropical and citrus fruit elements that are the real personality of this beer. I am glad I let one calm down (probably a little settling out) because it was a very rewarding DIPA.
