Lowe's Foods is a nice grocery store with a good fresh foods section, quality meat and produce, sushi made right in the store, and the best selection of beer and wine in Greenville.
Offering a nice variety of beers in bomber-sized and 12-ouncers, Lowe's offers premium brews for the most reasonable prices around, along with an extensive selection of macros and vino for those so inclined.
Lowe's always has something good from the mainstream-of-micro, usually on sale, and lots of other good stuff available, but need try harder to ensure that out-of-date brews don't infiltrate their stock. Their current choices of Allagash White and Shipyard IPA are beyond their brewers' recommended lifespan...a disappointing find amidst an otherwise excellent selection of brews from around the world.

I figured I'd write an updated review for this place since it's been 5 years since the last one.
This is probably the best supermarket choice for beer in Greenville. They have all the typical macros, a solid selection of imports (more than the other supermarkets) and a nice selection of craft beer. You can get all local/regional craft breweries here but breweries like smuttynose and victory stood out as only being sold here.
There's a small selection of bigger bottles - some stone, rogue, Weihenstephaner, Franziskaner, Sam Smith's, etc. At the very end of the cooler aisle is a mix and match six pack section with probably 50+ beers. I've been able to try many local and regional beers through this. They are the only place in Greenville that does this cheaply and with a solid selection!
After the cooler section is over, if you face towards the back of the store, you can turn left or right to find six packs on shelves. Turn left and you'll find seasonal beers, many times that they don't have in the cooler. Turn right and there's a big part of the wall dedicated to only NC beers. This is the only place I've seen the Mother Earth canned beers in town.
They also put beers on clearance every once in a while. I've been able to try a bunch of beers I've never had in a create your own 6 pack for $5 (half the normal price).
Overall, this is your best bet for Greenville (Winslow's is overpriced). They have a good selection that is reasonably priced.

This store boasts it has the best selection in Greenville and I could believe it. It is a usual size supermarket isle worth of beer with everything from singles in 22 ounce bottles and above to cases. The no pick a six though like the fresh market. The cashiers were friendly and quick to help. There was a large variety. They had all of normal stuff from the big three. They had a lot micros and macros too. They had Terrapin, Duck Rabbit and Fort Collins just to name a few. The selection is diverse with beers from all over the country. The prices are reasonable. They had Ommegang for $4.99 to $6.99 a bottle. The atmosphere was that of a typical grocery store and it was very clean.

Lowe's food has an excellent reputation for the more upscale buyer. When you are looking for a nice bottle of wine or hard to find cheeses this is the place to go. Their beer selection is hit or miss, sometimes it is amazing, and other times it fallas short of those expectations.
Q-Excellent quality in the store from the brews to the food.
S-Not had to deal much with this but everyone usually says hello
S- Like I said either this place is stocked with great finds or it isn't.
V- Value is good most hard to find stuff is on sale

This is truely the only store in Greenville that you can find good brews at. A very clean store that never gets really crowded. They carry a variety of styles of beers and brands. Fuller's, some Rogue, and many NC beers are kept in stock at all times. The prices are great too. You will at least save $1.00-$1.50 off a six pack of any brand compaired to other Greenville stores. Yes, I have been to better stores with bigger selections. But, if it wasn't for this store I do not know what I would do while I attend ECU. In a town that consumes Busch light like water it is a gift from the beer gods.

Greenville, NC could be described as a beer desert. This store is the only place I have come across that has a decent selection of beer in the entire city. Its located in the same shopping plaza as the Best Buy if you need help locating it. A somewhat upscale grocery store, but the prices on beer are not bad at all. The beer is located almost immediately when you enter the store. Additionally the store has another cooler filled with mostly singles at the end of one aisle close to the registers.
Lowes carries a lot of English Ales, which are my favorite, tons of NC brews, Rogue, and a wide selection of other beers. They tend to do a good job of rotating and keeping fresh beer on the shelves. Lately, everytime I go into the store, there is something new on the shelves.
If you are going to Greenville, this is the only store with a selection of beer. It's not really the kind of store I'd go out of my way to visit, but when I'm visiting home or for anyone else finding themselves in the Greenville area (or east for that matter), this store will become your refuge while there.
