This is a large white box of a place, in a mall/shopping/highway kind of area, real close to rt. 290, just north of Wusta. Huge selection of wine, and an equally impressive selection of fine beer from near and far. They have got the goods. Locals, regionals, imports etc etc, they have all their beer bases well covered. Cases of macros all the way to the left, the good stuff takes up an entire, huge row, 2nd from the left. Also coolers with cold brew in the rear, including growlers from Berkshire Brewing. A nice feature was a display they had up front, showing beers that were being recomended for consumption with various types of food. This type of beer/food education I have never seen before in a liquor store. A very cool touch. They also have a newsletter, with wine and beer info/education. I highly advise making this a stop on your beer travels.

I scheduled on Offshore Tasting here not really knowing what I was getting myself into. I did not expect what I was in for....

Ben ad Aaron were both very helpful in getting me set up right at the entrance and were pouring my beer for me as I discussed it with customers. Apparantly this store does not allow brewery reps to pour beer, t must be an employee of Austin's.. Cool with me, it gave me more time to talk wit people. I sold several cases by the way.

So.. why review? I was happy to find the store clean, stocked to the ceilings with fine beers among the clouds of everyday stock. The large Belgian department has obviously been revamped since my last visit 2-3 years ago. The have many great imports and domestic "craft " beers to choose from. The entire Craft, Atlas, Atlantic and United Books as far as I could seen. That is pretty much everything to non-industry folk.

The nug though: They do not tend to have great prices from looking at everything. $7.49 plus dep for a six of Wachusett (hum?) $6.99 for cans of Sherwood is typical though. (Offshore is $6.99 too, which is a better price than I usually get)

SO the NUG: Deus! $23.95 what a fair price. I have seen it from $23-$32 at off-premise and $40 for on premise. Damn tootin' a great beer at a fair price.

Incidently, they were doing a wine tasting with some wines ranging in the 10-30 range. Nothing even comes close to Deus! Well maybe De Ranke at $8.49

Great store with excellent finds. check 'em out.

This was an awesome find while visiting some relatives. We were just looking to find a liquor store to replenish some of the beer that we consumed at our uncles house and stumbled into a beer oasis.

Austin’s offers a great local selection as well as beers from around the world. The selection includes Smuttynose, Wachusett’s, Magic Hat, Victory, Stone, Rogue, Bear Republic, Dogfish Head, just to name a few from the American breweries. They also have a nice selection of English, German and Belgians.

I really did not need help when I was there but the staff seemed eager to answer any questions we may have had. I am unfamiliar with the typical liquor store in Massachusetts but being from Pennsylvania and our screwed up liquor / beer laws, this store was a real find.

This store is making me want to visit my in-laws more often.

Two very big aisles of beer and most if it aint macros. A dizzying array of regional beers in 24, 12 and sixes. Many sampler 12-packs and singles of the more exotic imports.

Among the items on the shelf: Chimay, Young and Co. Harpoon, Wachussetts, Shipyard, Magic Hat, Petes, Stone, Dogfish Head, and many, many more.

I didn't need any help because of the open layout, but there was staff nearby if I needed help.

Great selection of really great beers.

This is almost local to me when at work, as the crow flies, but with the highway being all ripped up, is a bit of an adventure to get to. However, after visiting for the first time since my college days (lo, so many years ago at WPI), I was quite impressed. Only two full aisles of beers, but oh what beers the second one is. Tons of Belgians, innumerous US micros, inc probably a case of Stone VE03, if anyone's looking... Selection better than most all in the central MA area, and is better than their sister store in the White City section of Shrewsbury, I feel.

But my main reason to go was that I was in search of a bottle of Magic Hat Thumbsucker. Called the distributor for Magic Hat in MA, they gave me a lead on Austin, called them, they had one last bottle in stock, and were more than happy to hold it for me at the register. Excellent! That is the kind of service I appreciate.

Worth a stop if you find yourself in Central MA, for sure.

I visited this store on a recent trip to Worcester. The store is laid out with two beer aisles on the left side of the store. THe furthest left is all cased brews while the next aisle is singles and sixers.
They have a great selection of belgians Fantome, Stille Nacht, Trappistes Rochefort 6, 8, and 10 and many others. ALso good selection of english ales. Stone, DFH, and Rogue were well represented too. Also some nice MA locals Berkshire Brewing among others.
WHile the selection is great I did not see anybody working the floor and was never asked if I needed anything. The cashiers were friendly but didnt seem to know much about the brews.
This is a very good store to find some goodies and if you're in WOrcester you should stop by and pick something up.

And, alas, Worcester gets such a bad rap...This store is solid. Austin's selection is strong, especially with respect to English Pale Ales / Bitters and the local, Central- and Western-Massachusetts and Northern New England microbrew scene. A large cooler in the back holds, among other beers, a nice stock of local offerings like Berkshire, Paper City, Smuttynose and the like. The selection of Continental beers, including Belgian beers, is decent, though not especially great. Austin does offer a nice selection of West Coast beers, including Stone, Rogue, Anderson Valley, etc., typically in limited varieties.

The quality of the beer is generally good, though I've had a few bad experiences now and then. The staff is always willing to answer questions, however, about how long certain bottles have been sitting around or which beers are coming in. In general the service is excellent. Austin is a big store, and not all employees know that much about beer. But the ones who do certainly know their stuff. Employees regularly present beers of the month or season, and beer tastings are also quite common. The managers have always gone out of their way to look into ordering beers I've requested. It's a good, reliable place to shop.

Note: Austin has a sister store in in the "White City" shopping area(Shrewsbury, MA) which is also strong.

A wonderful store. As the last post stated, they now have an ID scanning machine that takes all out of state IDs.
A great beer selection including microbrews, imports, and Belgians. They have a 3 door cooler dedicated just to micro, import, and Belgian singles and 750s. Over 50 or so Belgians, with a dedicated beer man bringing more all the time. Expecting 25 NEW belgians in the next 6 months. Beer tastings every Saturday, mostly Belgians although next up is a a comparison tasting Beer vs. Champagne, with 4 Champagnes, Deus, Lindemans and others. A few knowlegable beer guys are usually on hand. Good stuff.

This is one of the best liquor stores in worcester. Big selection and good prices with decent weekly sales.
