Notes & Commercial Description:

A strong India Pale Ale brewed with 100% barley, six varieties of hops, water and yeast. Extra barley balances the variety of hops in this brew. This is definitely for the hop lover. This beer is brewed in limited quantities as part of the John Mitchells series.

Poured from the big 1 litre bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Poured from the giant swing top 1 litre bottle.

A bit of a murky unfiltered and opaque red amber. Lots of yeast floaties even on a gentle pour, many just sitting in suspended animation like jello. Head is a big thick tan and four finger tall soapy and huge rocky appearance. Large amounts of speckled lacing all along the glass, and settles to a one finger puck.

Nice tea like and herbal hop aromas on the glass. Some hints of grass, mild caramel sweetness, and a floral pungency that comes out with quite a good amount of sweetness. Hop driven, with just a hint of malt sweetness to make it's presence, and a touch of biscuit just barely.

Palate hints what seems towards English style, and a very controlled and large one. Big notes of leafy green and herbal tea. Sweet controlled malt thickness and mild sugars finish off. Very leafy green aftertaste, and big tannic dryness but in control. Some hints of juiced tropical fruit seem to want to come out to play here as time comes around, which makes for an interesting note.

Overall this sort of reminds me of a somewhat English IPA hop angle but an American yeast neutral profile, and a hint of juiced fruit that gives a little bit of American note. Lots of green and tea herbality to it in a fun package with a hint of malt sweetness. Not really giving me the excitement, but a worthy brew.
