A refreshing Belgian-style wheat beer with hints of coriander and orange made with 50% wheat, 50% barley, hops, water, yeast, coriander and dried orange peel. It is named in recognition of "The Spit" - Squamish's world-class windsurfing and kiteboarding venue at the head of Howe Sound.

16oz pint, 4.5% ABV, at Beer Revolution, part of a Howe Sound tap takeover.
This beer appears a cloudy medium golden yellow hue, with one finger of thinly foamy, wispy off-white head, which leaves some severely elongated continental lace around the glass as things slip away.
It smells of semi-sweet grainy pale malt, unripe banana, cloves, mild black pepper, and a soft floral bitterness. The taste is sharp wheat grain, barely sweet in its maltiness, unsweetened orange juice, rich coriander, mild apple and banana chips, and a low-key musty floral essence.
The carbonation is quite peppy, and a bit too edgy at times, the body a decently hefty medium weight, and mostly smooth. It finishes off-dry, the fruitiness providing a sweet lingering flourish, and the graininess following suit.
A fairly enjoyable witbier, the spice and yeast esters pleasantly kept in check, and the wheat exhibiting a controlling crispness. More than worthy, if you're into the style.

1L swinging pop top poured into pint glass 7/9/12
A cloudy pale yellow with some sediment being moved around by just a few streams of big bubbles going up the side, a thumbs width of bone white head hangs around for a little while leaving lots of random lace
S the coriander and orange is strong, some lemon and faint clove smells like a Wit beer alright
T some other spice I can't quite place and even more citrus, pretty decent stuff just some faint herbal notes as it warms
M looks a little flat but its somehow a little foamy in the mouth? other then that no problems
O fairly refreshing and a decent summer swiller, yet again I'm way above the average
A liter bottle is a bit of a commitment but I think I'll be OK, I'm pretty stoked I have a few more Howe Sound bottles in the fridge I've yet too try

Enjoyed on tap at the brewub. A little yeasty, spritzy carbonation. Lighter mouthfeel for a whit. Bitterness not bad, so more of a North American take, not offset by corriander and orange and the like. Hazy unfiltered look.Wheat and yeast aromas.Worth a try.

These guys make one of the best Hefes in BC so how come their Wit is lacking. Cloudy with a big head but almost no nose this beer drinks like an American Wheat with little coriander and orange flavour. The Hefe is very full in flavour and mouthfeel but the Wit is thin and uninspired. Sad, cause the two beer styles are both similar.
