Opened a bottle on July 1st, I'm liking this one more than the fresh sample I had first.
A: Copper-bronze, good head & retention.
S: Big on the grapefruit, citrus rind, tangerine, slight grain.
T: Grapefruit, rind, pine, bitterness is pleasant and doesn't seem anywhere near 70IBU, grainy biscuit. It's definitely big on the grapefruit, which is what they intended, but it doesn't have as much depth to the flavour as some of their other brews.
M: Moderate body has a light residual sweetness, some hop acidity and a slightly drying alcohol finish.
D/O: An easy drinker and unique in a (west-coast) sea of IPAs.

Appearance. Pours a hazy, deep amber with two fingers of sticky, thick, pale yellow head that leaves some nice lacing.
Smell. Toasty grains and sweet pink grapefruit, some bitter rind and some sweet juice. Piney hops and some sweet caramel. Awesome.
Taste. Toasty caramel grains, pine needles and red grapefruit juice, bitter grapefruit rind that lingers in a great way. Good stuff.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with smooth, smooth medium carbonation.
Overall. This beer is pretty awesome. I thought the addition of grapefruit to an ipa would be unnecessary and make the beer unballanced but ya, I was wrong. Great ballance while still showcasing the hops and grapefruit makes this a really memorable brew.
