Not a big Doppelbock fan so I tried to be as fair as I could with respect to the style the brewery tried to create. The color was amberish with white head. Teh scent carried malt and alcohol. The taste was malty and sweet with some alcohol mixed in. The mouthfeel was ok, the high ABV makes it tough for me. Other probably would enjoy more than me.

Poured into a ten ounce footed glass. Poured a light amber with a decent sized head and active bubbles. Nose was yeasty, smelled of a wet dough, grassy hops and an alcoholic kick back. The taste was strong on the alcohol, but also very mellow. The hops weren't spicy, the body continued with the doughy flavor and it went down with an alcohol burn. It was a good beer, and I could see myself drinking it again.

Served in a snifter at Shoreline 5/27/08. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist (and the driving!).

A: Served an opaque chestnut color. Small sticky head.

S: Nice aromas of sweet chocolate, roasted malt, and brown sugar.

T: See above with a small hop bite and some caramel.

M: Thick, oily, coating, and very smooth. Slightly peppery.

D: Quite good! I will have this one again.

On tap at Tomlinson Taproom in Indianapolis. Pours a medium - dark amber with minimal head. Aroma consists primarily of sweet malt accented by notes of alcohol phenols. Taste is deceptively smooth and highly quaffable for nearly 10% ABV. Good amped up Americanized example of style. Would love to try the bourbon barrel versions as this example has many complementing traits that I think would be enhanced by the barrel aging process.
