Thanks to dpuia for sharing this 750ml bottle from the 2007 series on 1/25/10.

A - Poured a hazy copper body with amber highlights and a few gritty particulates suspended throughout, on top of which resided a slim off-white cap, though it disappeared rather quickly and yielded trace amounts of spotty lace around the glass.

S - Vanilla, caramel and dark fruit mingle with a hint of barrel wood and alcohol notes suggesting bourbon.

T - Melange of sweet caramel and vanilla with a touch of bourbon and wood notes. Finishes with a lush vanilla sweetness amidst a mild bourbon sting. Delicious!

M - Medium bodied with a smooth, slick texture and soft carbonation, resulting in a slightly chewy mouthfeel. Finishes with a mild alcohol warmth and residual sweetness on the palate.

D - Like bourbon-soaked caramel candies infused with vanilla, Curse the Goat is a delicious barrel-aged Dopplebock that delivers plenty of flavor and punch while maintaining a good drinkability. I really dug this one and found it not to be overly boozy.

VINTAGE: 2007 (Blue Wax/Lager Aged 1 Year In Rye Barrels)

This pours up a dark amber, medium brown tinted, color. It gives up almost two-fingers of off-white colored foam for a head, which is loose and frothy. It recedes to a thin, filmy covering. Lacing is in thin strands, which are slightly sticky.

This is one of the best noses that I've ever smelled! It smells amazing!
It's a total overdose of maltiness. It's like going on a brewery tour about half an hour after they've added the malt bill. It's impossible to avoid the malt presence.
This has a big (toasted and raw) coconut presence. Lots of vanilla. It has a smell very much like caramelized sugar coated bananas. Light hints of oak. A mild, but very nice, wiskey preesnce. Light hints of spiciness (from the rye, presumably). A good hint of maraschino cherry sweetness.

Nice. Very bready and yeasty. The huge maltiness is still here. All of the nose, in fact, has followed through to the palate. Lots of bananas, brown sugar and toasted coconut notes. Mild hints of wiskey and oak. A good spice presnce in the finish, which keeps it from being too sweet.
This is delicious.

This has a medium body and a light-to-medium level of carbonation. It is very smooth and drinks well, but I'd like to see it have a little more life to it...and some creaminess.

Absolutely delicious and very drinkable. A touch boozy, but at 10.00%abv it's better masked than anticipated. I'd love to have a case (or two) of this one on hand.

2007 Barrel Series, this is the rye barrel version of the curse the goat, blue wax.
Pours a ruby to amber color, clear, a very small skirmish of off white head gathers and gains maybe a 1/4 inch or so before fading back to the edge of the glass. Aroma shows a sunflower seed like nuttiness that mixes with a strong dose of whiskey. Also some soft sweet vanilla, some strawberry, ripe fruit notes on agitation, as well as a little coconut. Taste shows some of the coconut and vanilla notes up front, before the alcohol and whiskey notes sweep in and dominate, slightly peppery as they come with some of the sunflower seed like nuttiness in the background. Vanilla and caramel fade in and out of the taste. Mouthfeel is medium in body, not an overabundance of malt in the feel at least, and what is there is thinned and cut by the strong alcohol flavors. The alcohol is definitely forward in the taste and also in the feel, but it never becomes over the top or too much, just a big warming beer with a decent peppery bite. Not too bad, not quite as tastey as the stout for me, but a good showing for a whiskey influenced dopplebock, a good night cap for tonite.

Opened November 13, 2010 - 750 ml bottle, 2007 series.

Poured a vibrant copper-brown color with amber highlights and a nice creamy head that held itself well and evenly laced the glass.

Big nose of roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, and toasted bread with a hint of charred whiskey barrel aroma. There was a noticeable, but not unpleasant alcohol presence.

The flavors were rich and nutty, dark roasted malt, caramel and vanilla with a dry, spicy finish and lingering heat.

This had a big mouthfeel, medium to full-bodied and moderately carbonated.

Very enjoyable nightcap. I highly recommend opening one of these with a nice fire and a good cigar on a chilly evening.
