Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a big Founders CBS glass.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy peach like amber orange. Lots of bubbles and a decent one finger of off white head that fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A sweet, fruity, toasty, and fairly boozy wheat driven aroma with big hints of whiskey barrel. Upfront barrel presence with hints of bourbon whiskey, vanilla, maple syrup, oak, and wood. Sweet bready wheat and toasty malt with hints of sweet caramel, toffee, grains, yeast, butterscotch, and nuts. Sweet fruit hints of mango, orange, grapefruit, and peach. Hints of sugar and honey add more sweetness. Some subtle earthy hops in the background. Light hints of pepper and clove like spice. A pretty interesting and good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a very sweet and bready wheat driven taste with big notes of bourbon whiskey and maple syrup. Big barrel presence upfront with notes of bourbon whiskey, maple syrup, vanilla, oak chips, and wood. Bready presence of wheat and toasted malt with notes of sweet caramel, toffee, butterscotch, yeast, grains, straw, and nuts. Sweet fruity notes of mango, peach, orange, and slight grapefruit. More sweetness from some notes of candied sugar and honey. Light taste of pepper like spice. Hops are fairly subtle. Overall a pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Pretty chewy and syrupy. Sweet but actually has a fairly drying finish. Some alcohol heat is felt but its still pretty smooth considering its 12.6.

Overall: A very good twist on a wheatwine brew. Big bourbon and maple syrup presence with some nice wheat and toasty caramel malt.

Well this was something I had hoped would come along for quite some time. The beer poured out as a vibrant orange with plenty of floaties in there too. The beer has a nice scattered lacing and head retention. The smell of the beer is obviously sweet, loaded with vanilla, bourbon and maple. Sweetness all around on the nose. There is subtle citrus on the nose too. The taste is loaded with maple, vanilla, bourbon, citrus, and god knows what else... It's so good. The mouthfeel is thick, syrupy and creamy. Subtle carbonation also. Overall I'm so happy this beer was released. Nemesis 09 blew my mind and this one is so damn close to that. Definitely worth it and definitely something I'll be looking to get more of.

A - Deep golden honey wheat color. Creamy bone white head with nice retention and lace.

S - Butterscotch, caramel, scotch, sweet vanilla, hardwood smoke, maple, burnt banana bread.

T - Huge butterscotch note, honey, vanilla bean, bright white oak, maple, caramel candy, almonds, cognac.

M - Incredibly silkily, super smooth body. Almost creamy. A shade light on carbonation. One of the best finishes I've had in a while.

O - Heavy sweetness, but incredible complexity and integration.

Nice reddish-gold color. Looks a lot like Backwoods Bastard, big two-finger (?) head that stays for a long time and leaves lots of slick lacing. Not quite as nice looking as that beer but close.

Smell is heavy on bourbon, vanilla, some alcohol heat. My nose is pretty stuffy tonight so I can't get a whole lot from it.

Taste is loaded with caramel, vanilla, pecan pie, some slight malts with a little touch of bitterness on the finish. I can also pick up the maple syrup on the finish but it's subtle. Booze heat is heavy at first but as the glass has been sitting out and "breathing" it's gotten a lot milder. This tastes like a dessert for sure.

Palate is thick, almost too thick given how sweet this is, but just short of being overbearing. Leaves a sticky film on my lips. I'm glad that I decided to split this with a friend.

Overall this was an interesting experiment, but the whole maple syrup thing doesn't really come out as much as I think they were expecting. The result is a beer that tastes to me like a cross between New Holland Pilgrim's Dole and Backwoods Bastard. How much you like this is going to depend on how much you're into super-sweet and heavy brews. I like it quite a bit; I can see some people hating it though.

First review. Hooray!
Drinking this a little below room temp.

Appearance - Honey-colored. Head retains for about a minute when poured hard leaving behind very fine white bubbles creating very pretty lacing.

Smell - Mostly maple with vanilla from the bourbon coming secondary. Faint fruity hops (maybe mango and passion fruit?) come third with an equivalent malt aroma blended together with it. 12.6%? I don't smell it.

Taste - Maple and vanilla explode on the tongue in a respective 2 to 1 ratio. Taste turns over to a buttery-sugary, pastry-like, creamy taste. Finishes just dry enough to prevent this from being overly-sweet; however, the taste is a step below cloying. It tastes sticky like maple syrup if that makes any sense. Flavor lingers for about 15-20 seconds after swallowing. 12.6%? I don't taste it

Mouthfeel - Sticky and silky at the same time but doesn't leave a lingering, oily film around the mouth. It's sticky like a milkshake, but silky like a bottle conditioned beer; it's kind-of like the viscosity of a refrigerated and bottle-conditioned double ipa.

Overall - I dished out about 18 dollars for this 750 mL. It's a damn good beer, but is it worth the 18? F*ck if I know; I was just curious. 12.6%? I don't not feel it: f*cking hammered at this point. Also, don't drink this one too cold; trust me.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a snifter. This is relatively fresh (bottled within a couple months I believe).

Appearance: Pours a copper/amber color and leaves a couple fingers of slightly off-white head which fades slowly to a layer atop the beer. Very mild carbonation can be seen.

Smell: Prominent vanilla, butterscotch, toffee, light maple, malts. Pleasant but not overbearing.

Taste: Matches the nose pretty well. Butterscotch, vanilla, pleasant notes of maple, toffee, mild bourbon notes. Pretty sweet, but not too much for me. The maple notes are really nice.

Mouth-feel: Low to medium carbonation with a really nice, full, creamy body. Really nice.

Overall: This was a really nice, sweet beer. Several flavors such as vanilla, maple, toffee, sugar meld together to make a delicious profile. I love the thick, creamy body - it really ties this beer together.
