Thanks to bozebus17 for allowing me to try this drink while I helped him brew his 'Jolly Good' porter last Saturday afternoon. He said it was one of his highest rated beers here on BA and after drinking this beer (which took me over an hour!), it'll probably be one of my highest rated beers as well.
Appearance was awesome. Orange on the bottom and turned into a darker copper at the top. Huge rocky tan-ish head that dissipated a little but maintained a very nicely until the very end, as did the lacing. Carbonation bubbles were also prominent.
The smell was very floral and citrusy. Different spices were detected as well.
The drink was very delicious. I sensed a good amount of raspberry with a touch of fig. Very intriguing indeed! As the drink warmed up, the bitterness of the hops was definitely more noticeable and I had the lingering of the hops at the back of my throat for a while.
For seeing as many carbonation bubbles as I did, I expected this brew to be kind of rough. That was not the case. This drink was so creamy, smooth, rich and just...well...solid. This one was definitely a sipper. Like I stated previously, it took me a little over an hour to drink.
After drinking this beer, I can say I owe bozebus17 a great debt of gratitude for introducing me to my new found friend. I will definitely be making a point to pick up a bottle or 6 next time I visit my fav beer store!

No label information. Red's Rye P.A. is brewed in the style of an American Pale Ale brewed with Rye. Originally a year round release, Red's Rye has since been relegated to fall seasonal 12 oz. 4 packs with year-round availability on draft.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served above 56º Fahrenheit.
(Appearance) Pours a caramel-white head of a foamy frothed consistency over a moderately hazy red amber body. Thin specked sediment generates mild cloudiness, carbonation is moderate. Retention is above average, lacing is medium and stringy. 4
(Smell) Most trained noses can easily identify the bready, spicy characteristics of rye up and front, with a mellow sweetness and subtle graininess. Other aromatic notes include a light herbal hop profile with a subtle bitterness and a mellow fruitiness. 4
(Taste) Lightly toasted grainy caramel and peppery, spicy rye collectively form a flavorful malt body, fairly clean despite its assertiveness. Hop notes are herbal, peppery, slightly citrusy, although fainter by comparison, with a moderate bitterness, although the graininess of the malt bill seems to generate the most balance to the subtle sweetness of the brew. Subliminal undertones include lightly roasted coffee beans and herbal tea. 4
(Mouthfeel) Texture is smooth, mildly dry, peppery with a mellow graininess. Carbonation is soft, forming a smooth, lightly frothy mouthfeel. Body is medium+ for the style, medium/heavy overall. Alcohol presence is moderate, off characters of mild graininess may impede drinkability, but often come with the territory of rye and caramel malt. 3.75
(Overall) An enjoyable beer by Founders. They manage to pack a lot of malt flavor into this bottle. The Rye makes for a thicker, spicier and more peppery body than Pale Ales without it, so this is a worthy try for anybody who wants a Pale Ale with a bit more malt character. I recommend enjoying it as fresh as possible as the hop flavors do not take long to drop off. 4
