This one tumbled out of my cooler and cracked open a little bit. Better drink it right away!
Pours a nice ruby/amber color with a big, even white head and quite nice retention.
Smell is a subdued combination citrus hops, sweet malts, and spicy rye.
Taste is delicious. Sharp but not overwhelming hops and rye upfront; smooth, slightly sweet and malty in the middle, and a rejoinder from the hops and rye at the end, ultimately coating the palate in a very tasty combination of the three. Gets spicier as it warms.
Mouthfeel is fairly full but there's quite a bit of carbonation as well, keeping it light and distributing the flavors. The consistency is very well suited to the taste and does an excellent job of letting the flavor meld and linger.
This beer is pretty big and juicy but it is also very delicious and balanced enough that I could (and certainly would) have more than one. Were this on tap near me, I would drink it often.
