Slightly hazy brownish red color with an impressive off-white head that retains fairly well and produces some very nice lacing.
The aroma is pine resin, rye bread and hints of grapefruit.
The taste is dominated by the piney, citric hops up front followed quickly by a fruity, somewhat spicy rye and caramel malt flavor that really works well with the hops providing an interesting balance. Finishes slightly dry with a lingering pine resin aftertaste.
Medium heavy body, very smooth, almost creamy and nicely drinkable. Something a bit different for the hop lovers, well worth a try. We need more rye ales.
