Served on-tap in clear Shaker pint glass at Clark Street Ale House (Chicago, IL).

A: Deep amber with big-bubbled, off-white 1-2 finger head with good retention and a lot of craggy lace.

S: Stiff herbal rye aroma mixes with caramel and toffee. The hops eclipse the maltiness in the end with a big helping of pine, citrus, and earthy tobacco hops.

T: Crisp and hoppy with some spicy herbal tones from the rye which enhances the big pine and citrus hoppiness really well. The maltiness plays second fiddle but keeps the bitterness in check.

M: Medium bodied with a slick feel and no chalkiness or astringency. Supremely drinkable.

O: A fine brew out of the bottle and a real treat to have on-tap. Tops the list at Clark Street Ale House tonight.

Founders Red’s Rye P.A.
Serving:
Bottle
Appearance: Half a finger of bone colored head. Hazy and the color of autumn leaves.
Smell: Resinous. Reminiscent of fresh cut soft wood.
Taste: Pine and citrus hops and rye spiciness with a toasted malt backbone. Slight floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Carbonated with a lingering finish.
Overall: A well balanced brew and no complaints.
