On nitro tap at Proof. Thick, creamy tan head that holds forever. Amazing lacing. I'm more than halfway through the pint and there's still half an inch of creamy foam. Aroma is light coffee, some light sugar sweetness. Taste is slightly vanilla, I doubt there's actual lactose in this beer, but I get some milky sugars. Mouthfeel is next level shit: velvety, little bubbles all over my tongue. I can dig this.

I had this on a nitro pour and really enjoyed watching it settle. It is black in color but a bit of light will seep through when held up to light. An inch thick creamy khaki colored head caps it off. I smell flaked oats and dark malt. The taste is more about subtlety and I get dark malt and flaked oats. There's a reserved bitterness from the dark malt. The texture is creamy and smooth.

On tap at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul, MN. Served in a 16 oz. glass.

Appearance: Color is a dark brownish black with a lot of rising cream and bubbles from the nitro. Settles into a three finger off white head with good retention. Lots of creamy lacing is left.

Smell: A roasty, sweet, and very creamy malt forward aroma with good hints of chocolate and oats. Dark roasted barley malts with good hints of chocolate, oatmeal, chocolate milk, cream, and coffee as well as some grains, toast, and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar. Nugget hops add some bitterness. A very solid creamy chocolate stout aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a very creamy and nicely sweet dark roasted malt driven taste with nice notes of chocolate and oats. Upfront dark roasted barley malts with a solid taste of sweet chocolate, oatmeal, cream, chocolate milk, and coffee. Also some notes of toast, grains, biscuit, and yeast. Slight taste of sugar sweetness. Balancing bitterness from the nugget hops. A very solid nitro chocolate stout taste.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with a high amount of carbonation. Very creamy and silky smooth. Finishes fairly dry.

Overall: A pretty good nitro take on a light oatmeal stout. Good creamy chocolate notes with some balancing hops towards the finish.

Founders Oatmeal Stout

Poured into pint glass

A: Porter black not quite stout black but still black

S: Typical for the style . . . Roasted

T: This is a tasty sessionable stout. I'll go wiith "typical" again. Not too often I have a stout that is not Russian Imperial so that might be throwing me off a bit. It is tasty but the flavor just doesn't deliver for me right up front but . . . but . . . It is tasty, it does linger and makes me want another sip.

M: A bit thin but I just might not be used to these "non imperial stouts"

O: Rather tasty really . . . I believe I'll have another
