God Bless you alefish!!! This was a beautiful extra.
Pours a rubenesque red/amber. Rigorous pour yields a rich 1 inch of frothy head that seems dense but soon reduces to a delicate lace.
Some people are critical of this category of beer. They prefer straight ahead hops. F 'em!!! This is a graceful style. And this one is soooo good. The aroma gives a lot of hints. Biscuity maly, a hint of caramel, brandy, maybe even a hint of aged Jamaican rum. Overall a sweetness, with hints of booze graced by a slight dry hoppy hint.
The maltiness is gently sweet, invitingly so. But it is immediately followed by a subtle scrum between the hops and a dry, slightly peaty rum barrel flavor. Then moves toward a biscuit malt, and back to something in the rum realm. A piney, oily resin lingers like a hot, drunk ex-girlfriend that wants one more round for old times sake. Sorry, that was too much poetic license. But this one is warm without too much alcohol heat. And that's a good balancing act for a 12% TIPA.
The finish is nice and slightly sticky on the tongue. Again, lack of burn is a nice surprise. Very smooth.
Overall: Anybody want to put this one in as an extra, please trade with me. I really enjoyed this one, and hope to have many more chances to try it again...and again.

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.
Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to nothing quickly. It is an amber copper color with good clarity and vision of slow moving bubbles coming up through the glass.
Smell: Floral, grassy, pungent, citrus, onion, garlic, booze, and caramel.
Taste: Same as above. Burning tingly boozy sensation going down. Even after warming up, it's still the same.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, full bodied, low carbonation, tingly bitterness, and real boozy. It's definitely a sipper.
Overall: It's been a while, but still tasty. Should have held on to this one a bit longer.
