Perhaps one of the more controversial Triple IPA's out there. It pours a nice dark red with little if any head. Big juicy hop aromas to start. It almost reminds me of smelling a fresh pineapple. Taste follows the nose upfront with juicy pineapple and other tropical fruits. The backend leaves less to be desired. I couldn't put my finger on it. It was almost like the malts were competing with a hot alcohol burn. It has a typical smooth mouthfeel, which all Founders beers have.
I was surprised at how unhoppy this beer was. It had a mostly good balance of hops and malts, neither one dominating the other. What confused me was the backend taste. It was bitter but not 112 IBU's. I've heard people say this is similar to a Barleywine and I might have to agree.
Overall this beer gets a mostly good rating from me. Good aromas and juicy pineapple taste upfront with a smooth mouthfeel. I couldn’t get paste the aftertaste though. I would recommend this beer, but at a price point of $5 and up a bottle it might be safe to just buy one bottle a year and call it good. An odd yet interesting beer for sure…

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.
Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to nothing quickly. It is an amber copper color with good clarity and vision of slow moving bubbles coming up through the glass.
Smell: Floral, grassy, pungent, citrus, onion, garlic, booze, and caramel.
Taste: Same as above. Burning tingly boozy sensation going down. Even after warming up, it's still the same.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, full bodied, low carbonation, tingly bitterness, and real boozy. It's definitely a sipper.
Overall: It's been a while, but still tasty. Should have held on to this one a bit longer.
