bottle is from 2011.
pours a deep copper with a tiny amount of head that didn't last long at all.
smells very sweet. flowers, caramel, pine, honey.. for being a year old, it still smells pretty hoppy.
tastes roasty bitter up front, followed up by a heavy rubbing alcohol type taste (reminds me of cleaning out my old nintendo games), then gets sweet from the malts in the backbone. very earthy beer, pretty bitter but the sweetness from the malts helps even it out.
full body, very heavy, very boozy, slightly carbonated, creamy. damn heavy for an ipa!
this is a very nice sipper. overall, for an ipa it is too much i think - i'm not sure how it is fresh, but any hoppier/more bitter than this and it probably wouldn't be all that good. the year of being aged i think gave the malty background more power in the long run - and helped even this one out.

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.
Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to nothing quickly. It is an amber copper color with good clarity and vision of slow moving bubbles coming up through the glass.
Smell: Floral, grassy, pungent, citrus, onion, garlic, booze, and caramel.
Taste: Same as above. Burning tingly boozy sensation going down. Even after warming up, it's still the same.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, full bodied, low carbonation, tingly bitterness, and real boozy. It's definitely a sipper.
Overall: It's been a while, but still tasty. Should have held on to this one a bit longer.
