A: The beer is reddish orange in color. It poured with a thick ring of white bubbles around the edge of the glass, leaving some lacing in the center and down the sides.
S: There are aromas of citrus and pine resin hops in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of citrus and pine resin hops and is accompanied by a moderate amount of bitterness. The underlying malts are very noticeable.
M: It feels full-bodied and somewhat thick on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer definitely tastes strong, but the alcohol is well masked from the taste. I enjoyed it because it packs in a lot of hop flavors.

Served on tap at The Pony Bar in New York, NY

A: Pours a crystal clear golden amber with a thing off-white head that dissipates to an extremely thin ring of bubbles at the edges of the glass. Light lacing is observed.

S: Mixture of citrus, grassy, and pine hops.

T: Slightly sweet up front from a caramel malts but the finish is all hop bitterness. The hops are mostly grassy with some hints of citrus and pine.

M: Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Slightly dry in the finish.

O: Good but not great in one of my preferred styles. I think I would appreciate a little more focus in the hops flavors rather than the mixture of flavors you get in this beer. Definitely sessionable and I could enjoy another right now.

Thanks to FINEBEERGUY for sharing this one while waiting in line for Churchill's Renaissance at Churchill's Pub & Grille in San Marcos, CA.

Pours a slightly hazy honey orange with a foamy tan head that settles to an oily film. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest, honey, and some herbal and vegetal hop aromas. Taste is of citrus zest, grapefruit extract, and some herbal and oniony hop flavors. There is a somewhat assertive bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer and it’s nowhere near as bad as I have heard some people make it out to be.

$7 for 8oz at midway pub. served in a tulip. Tasted on 2/23/12. Here is what I wrote down while reviewing this at my table:

a- reddish amber color, little head, specks of lacing.

s- like a barley wine almost, with malts/vanilla-y scents and dark fruit...but weird...there's weird garlic smells. i'm not sure about this beer.

t- cherries, some wine. slightly hoppy. very boozy. what made me really dislike this beer is that it tastes slightly meaty, like sausages, and straight up onion soup. not pleasant. at all. awful.

m: med-carb med-full body, a bit cloying/syrupy.

o- i was really excited to try this, but i wish had saved myself the $7 and gotten something else. I'm not sure what went wrong here. i'd be afraid to try this again

$6 for a 12 oz stubby bottle at Wineworks in Marlton, NJ.

Smells dank and oniony with sweet curshed oranges and yeasty bread

Appears a brownish amber, no head and slightly hazy

Tastes dank and overwhelmingly bitter and astringent. Vegetably and tannic--too much hops? Definitely too harsh though

Booze is very present and the mouthfeel is alarmingly thick

Not quite sure what to make of this beer. I've put a couple in the cellar and I'm hoping aging can improve this beer. It seems like the hoppiness subsiding would definitely benefit this beer and take away the harshness. However, the onion-y hops are something that I absolutely detest, so I don't know if that will get any better.
