Each fall, our brewhouse looks more like a greenhouse as thousands of pounds of wet hop cones arrive within hours of being picked by some of our favorite local hop growers. Acting quickly, we then load up these wet hops into what will become Harvest Ale – an impossibly aromatic and bright IPA bursting with fresh pine, melon and citrus notes. Our ode to the beauty that is the wet, American hop.

12 oz bottle poured into an Imperial pint. 70 IBUs, 6.5% ABV, bottled on 09/24/09, "wet-hopped ale".
Thanks to Sweemzander for this delicious brewski!
A - The Harvest Ale is a lightly hazy golden straw yellow with a small, one-finger head. Off-white and densly packed with low retention and little lacing. Lots of carbonation streaming up from the bottom.
S - Lots of fresh hops on the nose with a touch of pine to the grapefruit citrus and fruity mango nose. Sweet pale malts in the background but hops dominate the nose.
T - The wet hops still taste fresh and have a lot of grapefruit citrus with a fruit-punch flavor. Pale malts in the background but it's really one-dimensional to the hops overall. That's not to say its bad by any means.
M - Medium-light bodied with a crisp, refreshing carbonation spritz and a dry, lightly citrusy-bitterness. Despite the low malt presence, it really balances out that 70 IBUs in the end.
D - The flavor is good and the smell brings a lot of fruit to the nose. Even the non-hop-loving girlfriend likes this one! A solid brew worth buying a four-pack or two of. A good brew all around I wish I had more of!

On tap, Mothership Series #24.
Pretty good. It's got a nice balance of hop Carmel and honeydew melon. Not super tasty, bright, vibrant honey dew melon. The more earthy, not quite bursting with flavor melon flavor. Subdued, but in a way that works well for this beer. Glad I got to try it.
