Picked up a single of this after looking for a 4pk a couple weeks ago. Poured into a SA perfect pint glass. Bottled- 9/22/11.
A- Pours a golden brass from the bottle and sits only a shade darker in glass, which a light orange tint. About a 1/2 inch crisp white head forms from the pour and then settles out to leave a decent capping and ring. Light lacing.
S- Sweet tropical notes dominate the aroma. Its definitely in the softer sweeter fruiter side of IPA aroma. Smells like a fruit stand in summer. Good, but kinda light in strength.
T- Lives up the aroma and closely follows it. Pineapple, sweet tangerine, perhaps light mango. A mild bitterness of pine builds up and lingers in the finish. The hops are forward, yet quite restrained. The malts are subtle and lend a kiss of caramel body and spice.
M- A very solid bodied IPA. The feel starts out very mild, wet and smooth and transitions to have more of a bitter bite in the finish, which leads it more of a drying feel. Not a palate wrecker at all. Feel is enjoyable.
O- A very nicely done IPA. On the sweet side of the hop profile, yet not cloying or sweet in the feel. Smooth, mild, calm and tasty sum this beer up. Another solid offering from Founders. Very easy to drink, too easy.
