So this batch is now about one month old.. It took me a while to finally get my hands on this. Other states like Mass and Vermont had it before Connecticut did. However, I am just happy to try it.

Harvest Ale has a similar hop build to Double Trouble. It shares some similarities for sure. The hops in here are really a great example of what a wet hopped beer should taste and smell like.

This beer smells way better than it tastes. Such a good smell! Those wet hops!
Not too too bitter, but still bitter. It really just has an oily taste to it that wasn't too pleasant in my opinion.

I have now had Port Brewings wet hopped harvest ale (high tide) and Surly Wet.
This beer is on the same level as High Tide, but is definitely a step down from Surly.

Pours golden yellow with plenty of suspended white yeast. Head is large and thick, leaving decent lacing.

Aroma is full of citrus and to a lesser extent, floral spicy hop.

Taste is More balanced than expected. Generous orange and tangerine flavors stand out. Bitterness is comparatively mild. Grainy caramel malt adds depth and sweetness. Finish holds a resinous quality along with slight herbal spice.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy.

A well made APA. Flavor profile is very unified and lacking in any harsh hop bitterness. Mild and easy to drink.

Bottle purchased at Buyrite in South Plainfield.

Appearance: Pours a hazed pale straw yellow with an extremely dense whipped 3 finger foam head. Lots of retention and lacing too.

Smell: Sweet pineapple, some grapefruit hops, and an herbal leaf quality. Not amazing but very nice.

Taste: Much like the nose. Restrained fresh hop goodness along with lemon zest and a tiny amount of bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Creamy with a good amount of carbonation. A bit thin in my opinion. Good drinkability but I think several in a night might give me some heartburn.

This offering was really good and is another solid contribution to the beer scene made by Founders. It didn't wow me though.

A: Very light orange color. Translucent, with no sediment or haze. Very small amount of foamy off-white head.

S: Apricot, mango, candied grapefruit, orange zest and other delicious citrus and tropical fruit hops. Smells a tad bit coppery and very sweet as well.

T: Not terribly bitter or overpowering in hop flavor. Very sessionable IPA. It's fairly clean tasting, without too sweet of a solid malt base either. I don't taste a lot of the specific flavors that were identified in the scent, unfortunately.

M: Moderate amount of carbonation, bordering on above-average carbonation levels. Medium viscosity - so it's less dense than Centennial but more dense than Red Rye IPA.

O: Not bad at all. Much more hop flavor than most wet hop beers. Blows away the seasonal Sierra Nevada offerings.
