I just stopped by Founders last night and saw that they had a few new beers on tap for this holiday season. This was one of them and seemed kind of Christmasy so i got it. Pours very dark with a large frothy tan head. Its on nitro for sure. Smell is of spices and a deep maltiness. Taste brings on more spices like cinammon, nutmeg, and anise. There's a good chocolate flavor in here that melds with the spices but the spices are dominant. After a while the spices weigh in too heavily and really begin to get annoying. The body is medium and creamy from the nitro. This beer takes some time to drink esp. with the overload of spices. Finish is on the sweet side but the spices keep it fairly neutral and lingering. Too much anise in this one from Founders. Like I said before, they are great at getting out the flavors they want from a beer, unfortunately it was overdone here.

aka: Yukon Cornelius' Christmas Porter...from the flavour descriptions below this is still the same beer, but this years blend is slightly higher ABV (6.8%) and is NOT on a nitro tap.

Pour on this is par for porter...black, light head on top.Smell, welcome to spiceland, heavy on the cinnammon, but some roasted notes in the background.

The flavour on this reminded me a lot of Great Lakes Christmas Ale with a Founders/Porter twist on it. Dominant flavours included the spices (nutmeg, allspice, cinnammon) and some roasty/chocolatey tones from the porter base. I like this sort of thing, so I quite enjoyed it...definitely my style of Christmas beer.

Mouth, dead on average, nothing really special going on there. Drinkability, solid, but not remarkable. These are not the kind of beers that you have more than one of.

Overeall: A nice entry into the Chrstimas beer sweepstakes by Founders. As I said, I like these heavily spiced beers, and this is up amongst the best in its category for me.

Pours dark brown almost black with large creamy nitro head as you would expect.

Aromas of cinammon, nutmeg, hint of brwon sugar and chocolate.
Flavor is dominated by a cinnamon hint, almost like chewing a piece of Big Red gum while drinking a relatively mild porter. Spice is overpowering and dominates the lighter chocolate and dark malt way too much.
Mouthfeel is creamy and sugary as the nitro tap is supposed to be. Very little residual bitter or roasted notes for the style, slightly sweet finish.
Drinkability is OK, its just too one-sided of a beer to be that enjoyable. Worth trying but won't seek out again.
