A - pours like motor oil. Just thick, viscous and completely opaque black. A slow and even pour brings out maybe a fingers worth of chocolate brown foam which quicly dissipates to a ring around the rim. Specs of brown foam cling to the glass with every sip.
S - the nose is intense and focused but can simply be summed up as liquid decadence. Bitter chocolate sauce. Black licorice. Earthiness. Sweet cream. Hints of coffee grinds and char around the edges.
T - the flavor is rich and deep from the initial sip. Lots of sweet chocolatey character while a rich doughy character lies underneath. The two flavors blend to create a flavor reminiscent of a chocolate croissant. A touch of cola flavor in the mix as well. Hints of american hops come in mid palate with a light citrus flavor which fades to an earthy bitterness as it warms up. Coffee and mocha flavors come in at the backend with hints of grinds and chocolate in the long finish.
M - heavy and thick texture. Very full bodied. Almost milkshake thick. Medium bodied carbonation with a slightly fizzy character keep drinkability high.
O - an imposing. Unrelenting and astonishingly tasty imperial stout. One of the best available anywhere.
