A: Dark dark black. More black than other doubles. Awesome color but not much head.

S: Good god. Chocolate, vodka or bourbon, cherries, malt.

T: Similar to the nose. Chocolate (dark), booze soaked cherries, raisins, cognac, cinnamon, syrup, toasty malt, bread crust, and butter. This is superb.

M: Damn near perfect. Thick and viscous. Creamy with some good carb as well. Has that booze burn to it, and it's not a bad one!

O: This beer is truly amazing. It reminds me a bit of Ten Fidy but less 'oily', if that makes sense. This brew has got a huge punch of flavors all at once, which makes it very complex.

A - Motor oil thick, black pour. Thin deep brown head retains some with decent lacing.

S/T - Espresso roast, bitter dark chocolate, milk chocolate sweetness, pine hops in the long finish. Moderately bitter. Alcohol stays extremely well hidden, adding a pleasing warmth.

M - Spectacular. Rich, full body, low carbonation, silky smooth.

O - Price tag makes me hesitate, but it's worth it.

Served from a bottle into a snifter at around 50°F

Appearance: Motor oil black with no light coming through whatsoever. One finger brown head that dissipates quickly.

Smell: Rich, quality chocolate and roasted malts. The alcohol comes through as it warms.

Taste: Starts off with subtle dark fruits, then rich bittersweet chocolate in the middle, followed by espresso, roasted malts, and a little smoky at the end of the palate. Very rich and complex

Mouthfeel: Dense, chewy, rich and full is what comes to mind. a meal within itself really

Overall: I love this beer and the rich flavors and mouthfeel that goes with it. It's smooth and hides the bitterness and abv. well. Founders has never disappointed me and this beer is no exception. It's up there with my favorite stouts and truly world class! Cheers!!
