A: Dark, motor oil color, with thin creamy head with minimal lacing.
S: Coffee beans, chocolate, fudge and caramel
T: Dominating coffee and chocolate favors are the first to hit the palate. Then brief moment of alcohol, leaving behind a bitterness on the tongue.
M: Tingle in the back of the tongue. Mild lingering bitterness.
O: Given the choice, I'd take the Founder's Breakfast Stout every time over this. However, in a vacuum, this is a very good strong stout with little wrong with it.

Pours out black as night with a three finger nice brown head with incredible retention with incredible lacing as the head falls like no other beer I have drank. Smell is forward dark fruits, burnt malt, and a little black liquorice, Taste is just like the nose and doesn't let up. The head is still there which is amazing for any beer I have drank. Really a tasty stout that is like no other. Mouthfeel is really thick. Basically this beer is the epitomy of a great stout as it has an ever lasting head with great taste and really nice thick mouthfeel. Although it's not my favorite tasting stout it is one of the best I have seen. Hard to beat.

I have never seen a beer with such nice lacing, Totally incredible.

Bottle into snifter

Appearance- Jet black small tan head

Aroma- Deep roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some dark fruit, a piney hop, licorice, alcohol present

Flavor, big roasted malt and coffee, chocolate, up front bitter but a sweetness comes in at the end. finishes dry. slight piney hops, alcohol warmth

Mouthfeel- Full and thick medium carbonation

Overall- Wow very good, one of my favorites of the style. This is a pretty fresh bottle, I have had a 1 year old bottle and the pine fades as the roast and dark fruit deepen.

A: Dark with appearance of motor oil, very very thin line of chocolate colored head

S: immediately chocolate, as it warms up though more smells permeate, I get a bit of licorice, small hit of coffee,

T: licorice with a decent kick of alcohol behind it. The hop character is very prevalent especially after swallowing along with a strong hint of maltyness which helps bring this beer to a well rounded finish.

M: Has a decent consistency a bit thicker and creamier than say and IPA but definitely not as thick as some other RIS.

O: Thank The Lord I bought a four pack of this because I would love to taste this beer over different periods of aging. Magnificent character and a much have for any RIS enthusiast.

A- Poured into a Sam Adams glass. A Dark Dark brown, with a lighter brown thin head

S- Smells of chocolate and coffee

T- Tastes of chocolate, coffee and slight vanilla. All are blended very well together.

M- Very smooth for the alcohol content, creamy

O- My first ever beer by Founders. Can see the hype behind their beers. This leaves me definitely wanting to try their other varieties of stout.
