A: Pours pitch-black with a thick head. Darkest brown head I've seen in a long time - almost matches the beer color initially. Fades slowly with excellent and heavy lacing everywhere.
S: Loads of roasted malt character. Chocolate, coffee and a touch of char. A hint of anise. Very creamy, almost oatmeal stout-esque.
T: More heavy roasted malt. Up front it's mainly chocolate. Fades into a roasted coffee and bitter char. Super creamy and smooth. Get a touch of anise in the finish with a long lasting coffee, char and bitter dark chocolate lingering aftertaste.
M: Heavy, thick, creamy, smooth. Awesome. One of the best I've ever had in this department.
O: Wow, what a great RIS. Roasted malt character is thick, heavy, pervasive and oh so nice. Super thick but not cloying or syrupy. Creamy beyond belief. Amazingly drinkable, especially for a 10.5% brew. This is one of the best I've ever had, period.

Bottled in 2009. pour is jet black with a dark chestnut head. The nose is big, roasted coffee and rich dark chocolate. Faint notes of slightly burnt caramel and a touch vanilla booze. Taste is much of the same, well balances, roasty malt and some bitter coffee in the finish with a sweet vanilla and caramel note mid to late palate. The body is soft and full with a tinge of alcohol in the finish and low gentle carbonation. Very good stuff.
A-jet black in color, syrupy looking as it pours. A thick, creamy looking dark brown, almost coffee colored head that has great retention and coats the glass as it very slowly dissipates.
S-decent nose that starts with a big roasted malt, molasses and coffee come in next fading to a light touch of dark chocolate and toffee
T-taste follows the nose but is a little bigger and nicer. it has a lighter roasted malt, coffee and toffee come in next, big amounts of bitter sweet chocolate that finishes with a touch of sweet dark cherries
M-full bodied beer, creamy, chewy and thick. decent amount of carbonation and hides the alcohol so well, light burn on the back of the throat.
D-this is an extremely solid beer, great taste, very smooth and drinkable.
