Bottled 12/13/13

Pours pitch black barely any head. Just a ring of tannish ruby head.

Smell is smoky wood and alcohol, maybe some black licorice.

Really deep roasted flavors. Charred smoky wood and deep dark roast coffee are first impressions. ABV hidden exceptionally well. Some bitter aftertaste to round out the first few sips. Liking this one. A little bit of semi-sweet dark chocolate but very subtle. Some alcohol burn late in the glass as it warms.

Feel is very thick, heavy, mouth-coating. Moderate to low carb., fits the bill here.

impressed with this RIS. Complex and doesn't have really any dark fruits or prune notes which normally turn me off of an RIS.

A: Deepest black in color with a very dark brown head forming briefly. Looks quite viscous pouring into the glass.

S: Plenty of roast-char aroma, dark malt, and slight dark fruit aroma.

T: Darkly roasted malt with a nice charred edge. Solid bitterness that blots out any possible sweetness. Little to no alcohol is noticeable initially.

M: Thick, silky, and smooth to an extreme degree. Nearly perfect feel on this.

O: The best non-BA stout I've had, and likely one of the best out there.

A: Dark dark black. More black than other doubles. Awesome color but not much head.

S: Good god. Chocolate, vodka or bourbon, cherries, malt.

T: Similar to the nose. Chocolate (dark), booze soaked cherries, raisins, cognac, cinnamon, syrup, toasty malt, bread crust, and butter. This is superb.

M: Damn near perfect. Thick and viscous. Creamy with some good carb as well. Has that booze burn to it, and it's not a bad one!

O: This beer is truly amazing. It reminds me a bit of Ten Fidy but less 'oily', if that makes sense. This brew has got a huge punch of flavors all at once, which makes it very complex.
