Pours a deep violet amber. Funky head of purplish carbonation. Lace is pleasant but not outstanding.

Nose is definitely raspberries. I admit, I like it. Maybe I'm a sucker for Founders, but this isn't bad.

Taste is rich and very very raspberry. I get a trickle of sour, but plenty of sweet to round it all up. A well-tasty and enjoyable fruit ale, though definitely not a favorite from this brewery's outstanding canon. (421 characters)

Pours a clear pinkish copper color with a frothy white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of raspberries and sweet malt.

Tastes of the sweet raspberries. Raspberry notes lead off with some sweetness and a bit of tartness as well. A bit more malt adds in with a touch of bread, but plays off of the sweetness. Not particularly complex, but I feel it is done pretty well.

Mouthfeel is medium with a slightly crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a raspberry beer that well, tastes like rapsberries. I can't complain about it, but it is a touch sweet for me and I would like some more tartness. (621 characters)

12oz bottle from Barrels and Barley (Woodstock, GA). 2.29. Bottled 7/3/13. Served in a Founders snifter.

Pours bright pink purple with a quarter finger of very pale pink head. Timy smidges of lace.

Smells of yeast, sugar and raspberries.

Plenty of raspberry flavor with traces of candy sugar, syrup, slightly tart, sweet and lightly doughy malt. Almost zero alcohol detected. It's sweet and it's fruity for sure.

Almost medium but still light bodied with fairly high carbonation.

Kind of like a Blushing Monk light. Not bad at all but it lacks the depth I've come to love and expect from Founders. Still, this is so much better than Cerise was and I think I may try it again blended with their Imperial Stout. (719 characters)

355ml bottle. BB 04/2015. Pours a mid rosé colour. Creamy pink head, good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of raspberry syrup, artificial sweetener and some grain. Initial taste is quite sweet but not in an overpowering way and then some dry tartness. Medium almost winelike body, effervescent, sticky lingering mouthfeel. Gentle alcohol warmth. A pleasantly interesting beer. (377 characters)

Tasted 20 July 2013. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a nice deep pink with brownish shades behind it. Clear, with half-finger of pinkish-white head. Okay retention and lacing.

Smell is a balance of raspberry and malts.

Taste is similar, combining sweet caramel malts with raspberry. It's just sweet sweet sweet, with nothing to balance it. Also has a funny mouth-smacking buttery back-end.

Feel is light-bodied, kinda prickly.

A relatively weak raspberry beer, in my opinion. Not bad, but I just find it dull, and that buttery character doesn't blend well at all with the raspberry. Lastly, the raspberry is not as potent as it is in the best fruit beers. Comes nowhere close to the quality of New Glarus's Raspberry Tart, so I'll stick to that. (745 characters)

It is what it is. Not really for me, too tart sweet. For the style its good, fresh fruit flavor ect, but not what I look for in beer. Would go well with dessert. (161 characters)

SECOND TRIAL: Bottle from Breeze-Thru. This is a very nice fruit beer. Not something I'd want to drink on a regular basis, but definitely nice. It pours a nice rich red with very little head on it. The smell is fresh raspberries, as is the taste. There's not the same sourness that occurs in a lot of raspberry lambics (which makes sense because I'm pretty sure they don't spontaneously ferment this), but there is some nice, light tartness. The finish has a lingering fruitiness that makes this beer easy to sip away at. Despite this, I probably couldn't have more than one at a time (I don't think that finishing a six pack of these would sit well with my stomach). Overall a well done fruit beer that's perfect as an every-so-often brew. (740 characters)

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Bottled 6/28/13.

Pours a clear red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, raspberries, and raspberry juice aromas. Taste is much the same with lots of raspberry flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of seed-like earthy bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a solid raspberry presence but nothing too memorable for a fruit beer in my opinion. (651 characters)

Serving: Bottle
Glassware: Standard pint
Appearance: Not much head at all but a bit of lacing. Hazy and cranberry colored.
Aroma: Fresh raspberries and a bit of yeast.
Taste: Linear. Raspberry jam
Mouthfeel: Sticky.
Overall: Well if you like raspberry jam (and I do) this might be for you. Serve as a dessert or digestif. (324 characters)

On-tap at the tap room in Grand Rapids. This one is a dark ruby red colour with an off-white pink-tinged head of foam that held up pretty nicely. Aromas of artificial raspberries and booze as well as some earthy/musty hints way in the background. Taste is cookie malts with a nice boozy raspberry syrup sort of taste. Drinkability is good, although the mouthfeel is a little coating and overcarbonated. A decent enough, higher abv fruit beer. Scarily many of the regulars were mixing this in half and halfs with the breakfast stout, imperial stout, and even devil dancer! (571 characters)

A: Attractive strawberry/raspberry juice color with some chill haze to it. A few streams of bubbles meander to the top of the glass from the bottom. Head is very minimal with a simple film of off white bubbles resting on top.

S: Raspberries, vinous qualities, lemonade and cherries in the high notes.

T: Starts off a little perfumy with a good amount of raspberry flavor. There’s no real surprise what this beer was made with, but the raspberry flavor is a bit on the “fake” side…even if its not. Tastes like some seeds made it into the beer, has that earthy pungent flavor. Good amount of beet and cane sugar leaves some residual syrup in the mouth. Finishes really basic opposed to tart which surprised me.

M: Fairly thin mouthfeel with a soft texture.

D: I was under whelmed by this beer. I could have used more “snap” as it was fairly complacent and not too memorable. (891 characters)

12 oz bottle pours a pinkish-red color with a small white head that doesn't last long, leaves some lacing in my glass. Fruity raspberry kool-aid aromas, sweet, tart and sour raspberry flavors. Medium bodied with a spritzy, seltzer like mouthfeel, finishes sour. Unique and flavorful, gets even better as it warms. (313 characters)

This is not my favorite beer and I have never been a huge fan of fruity beers like this. I know a ton of people that absolutely love this beer though. For me, I think it is too sweet to really enjoy with any sort of food. I do enjoy this on occasion, but it tends to upset my stomach. (284 characters)

Pours a brown to redish color with a small pinkish head that dissipates slowly leaving good lacing down a 20oz pub glass.

Smell is pretty good. There is a lot of raspberry and sweet malts.

Taste is very berry and sweet. I get an almost syrupy sweet berry taste that fades to a little bit of tartness of a berry and a little bit of maltyness at the end.

Mouthfeel is good. I get that syrupy feel to it with a nice bit of carbonation.

Overall, it is what it is. Very sweet almost too sweet. I like it but I would like to see a little more malt presence to balance out the berryness. (594 characters)

All of a sudden, Founders products are popping up all over Western Mass. This one showed up a couple of days ago. I am not a fan at all of fruit beers; but I figured, what F, it's Founders.

Head absolutely exploded when I was pouring it (average pour), took a good while to settle down. Gave off tremendous raspberry odors, yes, odors, I could smell it from a couple of feet away. Head eventually settled down, to leave a taint of rasp along the cusp of the glass on foam- I have never seen that before. Lacing almost the entire length of the glass. Hazy unfilterness, glowing tinted red-that doesn't make sense. Whatever.

Decent beer certainly won't turn me on to the world of fruit/veggie beers. Might be a good way to introduce your girl to craft beer. (761 characters)

Beautiful salmon pink color, with shreds of sticky lace. Aroma is raspberries, some malty notes (biscuity), a bit of a saccharine sweet note. Flavor more orless follows, slightly tangy but overly sweet. Finishes with a bit of a fake sugar sticky feel. (251 characters)

Bottled 06JUL13

It's a murky pinky red ale with little to no etching on the surface. Smells of grain, some grass, a hint of raspberry, not much on the nose. Flavor is nice and juicy with raspberries, and a light adjunct lager flavor in the background. The syrupy raspberry gives the thin beer a distinct heaviness, but my sense tells me this is the robustness of the fruit, not the beer. Lighter carb and a wet finish. Nice beer. Wish Blushing Monk was the seasonal though, then I'd be hunting for that snack for sure. (519 characters)

Pours a very deep red with a one finger head that dissipates quickly. Head seems more like the head on top of a fruit juice than the head of a typical ale.

Smell is mostly raspberry, unsurprisingly. There is something more there, perhaps a very subtle hop character underneath the fruit. Hard to determine it, at least for me.

Sort of a dry mouthfeel. The carbonation really hit me, peaking right as I swallowed. Sticky. Drinks like a soda.

Taste is not so strong as the beer first touches the tongue. The raspberry takes a moment or two to reveal itself as the dominant flavor, but when it does... wow, it really dominates!

All in all, I'm not the biggest fan of fruit beers, but here Founders does a good job of not overpowering the palate. There is a complexity here that reveals itself, before the raspberry hammer falls. (829 characters)

Thanks Mike for the in person trade!
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy ruby red color with a slim little white head that quickly dissipated. Lacing was slightly stringy here and there.
The smell had strong tart raspberry notes.
The taste was tart through the raspberry. A lingering raspberry aftertaste runs into the finish.
The mouthfeel sat about a light on the body with a big sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly harsh on this one.
Overall, its a raspberry beer, nothing more, nothing less, nothing spectacular, nothing bad. Nice to try, but probably wouldn't seek out again. (618 characters)

Appearance: ruby-purple pour with a bit of pink head.

Smell: Aroma of thin raspberries, bit of sweetness

Taste: Raspberries, similar to the aroma. Very sweet, with a bit of sour mixed in for good measure.

Mouthfeel: A bit thin

Drinkability: Fun to try, not sure why one would ever want a second helping.

*NB: A bit watery, stick with blushing monk. However, it does come through that they used real raspberries, which tend to be quite expensive, as opposed to artificial flavor and corn syrup. (498 characters)

Love me some Founders. Took awhile, however, to give this a whirl. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into my snifter. Next to zero head, though a unique deep ruby hue that demanded a longer look than I give most brews. Aroma of clear raspberry (I hope, right?), light citrus, and a hint of malty goodness. Not as much actual raspberry to the taste... quite subtle really. A nice refreshing tart aftertaste. Light carbonation and slightly dry in the mouth (was thinking that it might be too syrupy sweet) and pleased overall. I would not buy this again (even though it was good, not really my thing)... but was happy for the experience. Delicate touch to a beer that could have been a raspberry nightmare. (700 characters)

I'm not at all a fan of fruit, lambic and sour beers, but this one seemed to pull elements from lambics, Belgian sours and fruits just right to make it not a bad drink. All in all, it's decent. (193 characters)

Pours a clear, dark red color. 1/4 inch head of an off-pink color. Slight retention and good lacing. Smells of sugar, raspberry, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of grass. Fits the style of an Fruit / Vegetable beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sugar, raspberry, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of grass. Overall, too sweet, and lacking sharpness, but otherwise a good beer. (419 characters)
