12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Date is smudged but I can make out that it's from June 2013. Pours a deep red/violet body with two quick fingers worth of pink stained foam. Pretty solid lacing and retention. Aroma is raspberry jam and some caramel malts. Zero hop presence. Taste is similar with tart raspberries and malts. Not as juicy or fruity as New Glarus raspberry tart but on a similar page. Slightly syrupy but never daunting. This is a really solid fruit beer, I just can't believe I'd be in the mood for it that often.

From 07/18/13 notes. Picked up a bottle of this in Narberth, PA at whatever the name of that new bottle shop by the train station is. 12 oz. bottle poured int a snifter.

a - Pours a deep, pink-purple color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells a bit metallic, and of very sweet raspberries, raspberry juice, fruity malts, lightly sour dark fruits, and some spice. Very sweet, metallic nose downgrades it to me. Kind of reminds me of that metallic nose and taste you get in something like Sam Adams Cheery Wheat.

t - Taste is much better than the nose. Tastes of sweet raspberry juice, sweet raspberries and dark fruit malts, sugar, spice, and bread. Taste is good but very sweet, keeping it from being great. Like raspberry juice.

m - Light to medium body and low to moderate carbonation. Sugary and sweet, otherwise pretty easy to drink.

o - Overall a decent beer, with a good taste, but the nose is a miss for me. Super sweet so won't be for everyone, but if you like swete fruity beers, you'll probably like this one. I'd suggest trying to get some New Glarus Raspberry Tart instead, but worth checking out.

Bottle from Bert's
Pours a deep clear reddish purple color with a smallish pink/white head that dissipates almost instantly. Smells like raspberries. Sweet and tart raspberries is all I can find in the aroma really. Maybe a hint of bread if I think about it really hard. The flavor is sweet and tart raspberries with a hint of malt in there and a touch of earth. The mouthfeel is sticky and a bit syrupy, carbonation is low to moderate and the body is moderate. Wine cooler or beer? I enjoyed this a bit and I could drink it again, maybe not my favorite beer but certainly drinkable.

A-Pours a dark, reddish pink. Body is murky. Pretty off white head with violet undertones.heads lasts forever and laces with purpose.

S-Sweet raspberry purée. Really concentrated in its raspberry sweetness. Jammy without much aroma behind the berries.

T-Raspberry jam. Very sweet. Very direct. I am about the biggest raspberry beer guy and this is too much. Where are the subtle undertones of secondary flavor? I don't want to call it cloying but...

M-Feels much fuller than a beer packing less than 6% booze. Sticky and jammy.

O/D-I have been wanting to try this for years. I thought Blushing Monk was a gem too. This was a big disappointment. Too sweet, sticky and one-sided. All things considered, I love me some raspberry beer and although I donate a relatively harsh review, this was still pretty decent.

Ruby-purple brew with light haze and some sporadic bubble streams. Light pink head is small and dying.

Smells of raspberry puree, pale and toasty malts, and some herbaceous hops. Lightly grassy, yet vinous. Hints of fresh tobacco.

Sweet raspberry jam with a slight tartness. Tannic qualities tie in with a quiet, but stodgy, hop. Finishes with a mineral note and earthy bitterness. Really feels gripping with tannins in the mouth. Coupled with the light tartness, it's a real tooth-stripper. Medium body weight with a well-placed carbonation level works decently. Nothing gooey about it. A fruity fruit ale with perks.

I'll take this one over Cerise, but it's a ways still from Blushing Monk. Works for what it is. A nice treat after a long hard day's work.
