Had this last night was very good

Appearance looked almost like blood. Small pinkish frothy head

I liked the taste very much ice cold as it warmed it became a little skunky

My first go'round with FOUNDERS. Definitely won't be my last a little pricey 12$/4

But that is the norm for craft beer I have been told

Overall a little sweet but I enjoyed it I can see the ladies liking it

Pours pinkish red with a pink foam head that does not last. No lace.

Strong raspberry aroma. Sweet and powerful, but not artificial. That's all you get here.

Big strong sweet/tart raspberry flavor. As the palate clears, you wonder where the beer will be...and you get this subtle flavor of malt. Not raspberries at the end, but very light malt. No sour juice notes, no sugar, but malt. What a unique transition. The fact that the berry does not linger at the end is rare and welcoming.

Light to medium-light in body. Light carbonation keeps this from being a soft drink. Good decision. At the end of the glass and this one seems almost dead still.

Solid fruit beer for a hot summer day. A true raspberry beer. Enjoy.

Had a bottle with Jim (thanks!)

Appearance is a nice deep raspberry color, very effervescent.

Smell is of sweet raspberry! Almost like a soda... More on that....

Taste is over the top slightly sweet raspberry, really like a raspberry soda for adults.

Mouthfeel slightly thin and totally appropriate

Overall, a very well made beer that I wish was a bit more subtle but I can see why some would love it.

12oz bottle from Barrels and Barley (Woodstock, GA). 2.29. Bottled 7/3/13. Served in a Founders snifter.

Pours bright pink purple with a quarter finger of very pale pink head. Timy smidges of lace.

Smells of yeast, sugar and raspberries.

Plenty of raspberry flavor with traces of candy sugar, syrup, slightly tart, sweet and lightly doughy malt. Almost zero alcohol detected. It's sweet and it's fruity for sure.

Almost medium but still light bodied with fairly high carbonation.

Kind of like a Blushing Monk light. Not bad at all but it lacks the depth I've come to love and expect from Founders. Still, this is so much better than Cerise was and I think I may try it again blended with their Imperial Stout.

Review taken June, 2013 from notes

12 oz brown stubby/stout style Founders bottle with a very sweet and fruity summer time label. Very elegant and nice to look at on this rainy summer evening. Poured this into standard Founders pint glass. Didn't really know what else to pour it into.

A - ruby red body that really illuminates in the late to more of a bright blood red. Head is a light purplish pink that has some stick to it and the ring of lace last nearly the entire way. Some slight haze but still fairly clear.

S - lots of fruit with raspberries, slight cherry and a touch of cranberry juice? Some grain to the malt background with an Founders depth to the malt aroma. This thing smells like sweet, tart and fruity raspberries but it has a Founders brewery aroma as well. Amazing how a fruit beer has this sort of character.

T - tart raspberry up front. Okay very tart, but it soon shifts to a luscious raspberry sweetness with a soft hint of sweet cherry pie. The grain is there as is that Founders malt funk in the backbone. This may be a fruit beer, but it lets you know it is indeed a BEER. It's like sweet liquid nectar with a good balance of malt and grain character.

M - on the lighter side of a medium bodied but no where near thin. This thing carries that good ol Founders thickness and texture. Smooth and easy to drink. Bursting with fruity flavors.

O - okay, I love Belgian sours. Maybe more than most, but its not something I can do everyday like say my wife could. But this thing is much lmuch more than just a fruit beer or a sour. It has some balance and complexity to it. Maybe not a lot, but the Founders imprint of their malt style this thing lets you know you are indeed drinking a brew from the same folks who make the worlds best stouts. This is perfect for summer and a real answer to the somewhat disappointing Cerise, and I liked Cerise. But it was no where near as brilliant as this thing is. Founders may have indeed found the direction they want to go in during the warm months of summer.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz bottle.

Appearance is a deep reddish color with a small amount of white head that recedes quickly.

Smell is a sweet raspberry flavor.

Taste is heavily raspberry, but with a nice crisp, tart finish. Not much in the way of beer flavors.

Mouthfeel is sticky and fairly thick, but is offset by heavy carbonation.

The early spring in 2012 devastated the Michigan cherry crop, and Founders turned to raspberries for their fruit beer. Overall, the result is an excellent summer beer.
