Pours a deep garnet red color with the aroma of raspberries. The taste is raspberry forward but the finish is medicine-y and only grows stronger as it warms up. Overall ok. (172 characters)

I'm not at all a fan of fruit, lambic and sour beers, but this one seemed to pull elements from lambics, Belgian sours and fruits just right to make it not a bad drink. All in all, it's decent. (193 characters)

Not all at a fan of fruit beers but I gave this one a try. Great looking, very fruity, slightly sweet, easy drinking. Might give this a shot after a round a golf. (162 characters)

Did not do anything for me. Too sweet for my liking, though I did not find it to be an offensively bad beer. I knew what to expect going in, so at least there were no surprises. (177 characters)

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Bottling date of 05/23/14

Appearance - Pours a murky auburn brown with a thin head that quickly dissipates, leaving a near barren surface.

Smell - Raspberry aroma with a touch of chocolate.

Taste - Raspberries are the name of the game here, with raspberry sweetness up front and a light malted chocolate undertone. Berry tartness breaks through mid-taste, then peaks in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with low to fair carbonation. Sticky texture. Crisp, semi-dry finish.

Overall - Pretty good. Seems to have held up fine with a year of age on it. Not much "Beer" character, but makes for a nice dessert option. (624 characters)

Look: Bright ruby with a couple fingers of pinkish-white head that settles quickly into a foam
Smell: mmm...raspberry
Taste: mmm... raspberry. Nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Not much hops to speak of.
Feel: Light-medium body, nicely carbonated

Overall: If you like raspberries and beer, it's hard to imagine you'll dislike this one. Very flavorful with great balance. Despite the relatively low ABV I wouldn't want to have more than one at a time due to the intensity of flavor. (492 characters)

A summer offering from a good brewery.
ABV: 5.7%
Glassware: chalice

Smell: Raspberries!

Appearance: Opaque raspberry red with a very thin head that diminishes quickly. Active carbonation in the body.

Taste: Raspberry! The raspberry taste is very effectively supported by the malts. Near perfect balance between sweet and tart.

Mouthfeel: Very smooth. No aftertaste. Feels like a soda on the tongue.

Overall: The very best of the fruit beers I've tried. Better than most of all the beers I've tried. Best on warm days. Goes very well with steak and venison. Beautiful beer. (581 characters)

Probably my wife's favorite beer - which will ultimately mean it is too sweet for me.

This pours a solid fuchsia color but is a bit cloudy. Smells of raspberries and more raspberries.

The carbonation dissipates really fast and it is almost like drinking a barley wine. It is smooth and creamy and the taste is of sweet raspberry. It is a sweeter beer but if raspberry is what your after this should be your choice. (419 characters)

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear pink/red with virtually no head. Looks like cherry or raspberry juice you'd buy your kid. Straight raspberries on the nose. Maybe a little spice and booze in there, too. Medium weight, clean yet dry mouthfeel. Raspberries dominate any and all other ingredients in this beer. Has a bit of a champaign-like drinkability to it, only with a heavier body. Finishes tart and dry. Residual sweetness on the aftertaste.

This is an okay beer if you're a fruit beer fan. I liked Blushing Monk better than this, probably because of the higher abv (for what it's worth, Blushing Monk is pretty much just an "imperial" version of this beer). (676 characters)

Oh this beer lives up to its label. When poured it is a bright red color and smells like raspberries. It is a really sweet beer so I can't see having too many in one sitting but it is very refreshing. Overall a great beer and would be great a bbq or sitting by the pool. (270 characters)

A beautiful red. Perhaps the most vibrantly red beer I've ever seen. The head is a light pink color, about a finger or so. Slightly opaque/hazy.

Smell - 4/5
Delicious raspberries, yet still has many of the other subtler qualities of beer, which makes it still smell like a beer (albeit a very fruity beer).

Taste - 4.25/5
Amazing raspberry taste but still tastes like a beer.

Mouthfeel - 4.25/5
Medium bodied, medium level of medium-high carbonation. Quite crisp near the beginning of the sip. Then goes down smooth with a little carbonation tingle all the way down.

Overall - 4.5/5
I've had this beer many times before, and am finally getting around to reviewing it. What I love about Rubaeus is its delicious raspberry taste, yet it still tastes like a beer. This is perhaps the best examplar of a "fruit beer", meeting both the "fruit" and "beer" criteria masterfully. If you want a nice sweet fruity summer beer, but want it to be a beer and not fruit juice, this is the beer for you. Also, I think this would be a great way to introduce someone new to the beer world into beer. Show them that not all beer tastes like what they have had before. Start with a very fruity beer like this, and slowly move them to less and less fruity beers. (1,289 characters)

Drinking this beer reminds me of my sister's wedding and how I couldn't be a bridesmaid because of my beard. I was pretty disappointed but my friend Amy came over and we both put on our Sunday's best and drank Rubaeus till we bled pink raspberries. Overall a really refreshing brew. (282 characters)

Founder's did a great job of making this raspberry beer taste very delightful and easy to drink without being too sweet and still containing some classic beer qualities. The color is a bright deep pink and the aroma is very appealing. (234 characters)

It's like a sweet, slightly tangy raspberry juice, but carbonated and alcoholic. It's a pinkish / purplish color, and very refreshing on a hotter day. I can foresee me drinking many of these during the summer months. One of my new favorite summertime beers! (257 characters)

I bought a single bottle to go with a 4 pack of Founders Old Curmudgeon at my local liq. store, just to try out. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised with this fruit ale! Very drinkable and refreshing - perfect on a hot summer day after a long bike ride. Will definitely buy again. (295 characters)

Slightly foggy and pinkish/red in color. It smells grassy and fresh with noticeable raspberry tones. The beer tastes smooth and refreshing, but it is also quite sweet and fruity with the same raspberry hints found in the smell. I liked it, but I think the sweetness is slightly overpowering at times. (303 characters)

Pretty good fruit beer. I've had the blushing monk. This is essentially the watered down version of that (not a bad thing, just reality).

Overall, a nice raspberry beer. Tastes way better than it smells.

12 oz bottle poured into a Founders shaker pint.

Appeaerance
Pinkish red with a short head that dissipates immediately. Good clarity with moderate carbonation.

Nose
Straight up raspberry juice. Maybe Snapple Raspberry Tea.

Taste
Again, straight up raspberry juice or Snapple Raspberry Tea. Notes of artificial sweetener and some astringent medicinal flavors. There are hints of cereal grains as it warms.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, silky, syrupy, smooth, and sweet.

Overall
It's a Fruit beer that tastes like raspberries. Enough said. (542 characters)
