Pours a deep amber color, almost ruby. Short khaki colored head falls to a ring that leaves quite a bit of lacing.

I smell caramel, burnt brown sugar, pecan, some allspice, syrup, and flap jacks. Its aroma is strong, yet balanced; it tickles my nose with each whiff.

Burnt brown sugar, raisins, toffee, caramel, tea, with a bitter nut flavor. Well done!

Sticky, but nut too much! Pretty heavy, quite astringent, its like a nuclear assault on my tongue.

Another great beer from Founders! Perfect beer on this cold, rainy evening.

Bottled on 4/12/12

Hazy murky brown with lots of sediment in there Big bubbles around the edge of the glass. Very still beer.

Smell is sweet, molasses, woody, honey covered biscuits.

Taste is pretty well...tasty. More sweetness and oak then light bitterness, sweet black tea, hints of vanilla bean, slight warming booze.

Light carbonation, thick, delicious.

Good old Old Ale.

Poured Curmudgeon Old Ale into a 9oz snifter

A - Dark reddish hue or burnt orange

S - Candied fruit with sweet booze, some malty goodness on the back end

T - Smooth refined maltiness, some dark fruits , maybe some liquor with wood

M - Again smooth beer with a little alcohol on the mouth but very tasty

O - My go to Old Ale, just awesome beer that I highly recommend on any occasion

Thanks to dujayhawk for this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into pint glass.

A: A deep copper, moderate haziness. One-half finger's worth of white head forms, and only a bit of visible carbonation.

S: Caramel roasty malts, some oak-iness, some vanilla in the background.

T: Roasted malt and its accompanying sweetness, oak, molasses, a bit of caramel. Then a boozy, sweet/sticky hang.

M: Medium mouthfeel, low carbonation, and it is a bit boozy.

O: Pretty good old ale, but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't refuse another, but nor would I seek one out.
