2011 Bottling, a capped 750 from an awesome BA (thanks Steve). Split into wine glasses with the wife on Valentines night.
A: Pours a dark blood red with hints of darker ruby...pretty opaque...a fingers worth of pink head fizzles away but does leave some lacing behind...attractive.
S: Raspberries dominate upfront, with Belgian notes finding their way through as well. Smells authentic too, and not artificial. The raspberries are sweet and tart, and there is a definite layer of bready malts underneath. Some other fruits pop here and there as well, banana and grape come to mind. Really nice stuff.
T: Raspberry puree and Welch's grape juice...wow, incredible flavors, not too sweet or tart...hints of red velvet and raspberry cheese cake too. Light Belgian yeast notes wiggle through the fruit onslaught to provide some semblance of balance.
MF: Medium body, good carbonation, velvety smooth with a lightly tart finish.
O: So darn good, not cloying or overly tart, not artificial at all. Really drinkable as well. Would love to find another bottle of this.
