Thanks to the extreme generosity of sweemzander for hooking me up with a 75cl bottle of this. Split with tulipsnifter and poured into my Founders snifter. 2011 batch.
A: Very dark plum with a finger of brilliant pink head. Thick and heavy legs visibly show the hefty gravity this beer still possesses. Very minimal lacing leaves about a half dozen spots on the glass. It looks big, it looks foreboding, it looks most impressive. 5/5
S: Big and heavy on the raspberry. I get nothing else but I assume that's exactly what Founder's was going for. 4/5
T: Wow... It's like a party in my mouth and everybody's invited! Huge sweet raspberries, green under-ripe raspberries, and some raspberry concentrate for good measure. Not just the raspberry juice is discernible either. The mustiness of the seed make an interesting counter-point to the massive sweetness of the fruit. Alcohol is hardly a factor here. If Founders wanted to cram the most raspberry flavor possible in a bottle, they succeeded. The comparison to Raspberry Tart is of course going to be brought up. It's a fitting juxtaposition, if Raspberry Tart was a 1998 MLB player trying to keep up with McGwire and Sosa. 4/5
M: Thick and spritzy with a full finish. It's a dessert in a glass to be sure. Sip slowly as a night-cap. 4/5
O: Huge and massive fruit at every turn. An exercise is excess that is fun to try, but not likely something I'm going to be wanting on a regular basis. It receives my recommendation but isn't one I'll be stocking up on. 4/5
