Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

The Founders Double Trouble pours opaque and golden brown forming an off-white creamy head. The head dissipates evenly leaving whisps of lacing along the glass.

The beer has aromas of fresh hops and citrus with nice fruit malt backbone, with hints of banana.

Bitter hop goodness assaults the tongue but is mellowed by a nice and balanced malt. The alcohol is noticable right before the long, slightly bitter and citrus/hop-flavored finish. Throughout the beer there are hints of pineapple/banana fruitiness (super-suttle hints).

This beer has a medium body with good carbonation, but it finishes quite lightly.

The DT is very easy to drink, with the alcohol making its presence known without ruining the party. This was the first beer from Founders that I ever had, and it is probably my favorite. Great effort from a great brewery.

A: Beautiful bright golden orange color. Half finger of head. Lots of tiny floaties which I like in my hopped up ales. Decent lacing. Swirling the glass brings back some of the head.
S: Aroma is a very strong resinous hop profile of citrus, pine, and tropical fruit. It is bright and juicy on the nose.
T: Reminds me much of Stone Enjoy By. Awesome hop character which follows the nose exactly. Super balanced between the bitter finish and the sweetness of the malt.
MF: Decent. I could use a bit more carb. Doesn't coat my mouth the way I would like, but I don't really hint the alcohol which is nice.
O: Definitely in the caliber of Enjoy By, Dirt Wolf and Hopslam in my opinion. This one is excellent for a brewery that is more known for its stouts.

served from bottle, slightly over a month old.

pours a hazy straw-yellow. small rocky head that dissipates and clings to side of glass.

smells of pungent hops, cannabis, pine, and tropical notes with citrus (this beer is brewed with Summit, Simcoe and Amarillo hops)

front of the tongue has a big wallop of bitterness that quickly transitions to a pungent, dank taste - the sort of typical Simcoe taste. follows with a nice sweetness, citrus and tropical notes, slightly sugary. really well balanced!

overall, this is a great DIPA. great representation of the style, and this brew is incredibly balanced between pungent bitterness and sweeter notes.
